What are the responsibilities and job description for the Marina Manager position at Reserve Marina?
Job Overview
Reserve Marina is a premier 156-slip covered floating marina set on roughly 30 acres along the shores of Lake Travis, in The Reserve at Lake Travis. We offer our members and slip licensees a first-class boating experience backed by exceptional service, well-maintained facilities, and a vibrant waterfront community. As we continue to grow, we’re looking for a hands-on, business-minded leader to take on the General Manager role of our day-to-day operations. The Marina General Manager is responsible for the overall operation, financial performance, and member experience of the marina. You’ll lead a small team, drive occupancy and revenue, maintain a safe and beautiful facility, and serve as the face of the marina to members, vendors, and the surrounding community.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Operations & Facilities
- Oversee daily marina operations, including docking, slip assignments, maintenance, and member services.
- Keep docks, facilities, and equipment safe, functional, and looking their best.
- Monitor weather and lake-level conditions and make timely safety and maintenance decisions.
- Ensure compliance with maritime, environmental, and LCRA regulations (waste management, fueling, water quality).
Revenue & Financial Performance
- Prepare and manage operating and capital budgets, revenue forecasts, and expense controls.
- Deliver regular financial reporting (rent rolls, P&Ls, cash flow, and performance commentary).
- Negotiate vendor contracts and implement cost-saving strategies.
- Drive profitability through slip leasing, in-house boat brokerage, lift sales, and amenity/service offerings.
Sales, Marketing & Events
- Lead leasing and outreach efforts to maximize slip occupancy.
- Assist with marketing campaigns (digital ads, website, reviews) to attract new members.
- Plan and host marina events — boat shows, demo days, regattas, and community gatherings.
- Build lasting relationships with current and prospective members and boat owners.
Team Leadership
- Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise dockhands, maintenance, and office staff.
- Coach the team and promote a culture of safety, accountability, and service excellence.
Stakeholder Relations
- Serve as the primary point of contact for members, ownership, residents, the HOA, public officials, and local businesses.
- Keep members informed through regular updates and newsletters.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- Experience managing a marina or marine operation is strongly preferred; we also welcome candidates from hospitality, country/yacht club, resort, or property/operations management backgrounds.
- Proven leadership with budget and P&L responsibility.
- Strong customer-service instincts and a genuine people-person mentality.
- Sales and leasing aptitude — you like hitting goals and growing a business.
- Comfort with financial reporting and everyday business software (e.g., MS Office, Word, Excel, MarinaGO Office, Google Docs).
- Familiarity with boating, the marine environment, and regulatory/environmental compliance is a plus.
- Willingness to work an on-site schedule that includes weekends and holidays during peak boating season.
- Ability to work outdoors and on the docks in a waterfront environment; valid driver’s license.
