Position Title: Production Operations Engineer IILocation: Hybrid to Alexandria, VAClearance Requirement: Must have a U.S. Secret Security Clearance at minimum, TS/SCI preferredEmployment type: Full Time Research Innovations, Inc. Using agile development practices and user-centered design, we create innovative software solutions for complex real-world problems.In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and configuring large-scale big data environments that leverage a wide range of open-source and commercial technologies. You will perform system administration across development, test, and production environments supporting operations around the globe. The position also involves analyzing system, software, and user performance metrics, including capturing trends to drive improvements. Additionally, you will provide on-call support during designated weeknights and weekends as part of a predefined schedule.This role requires an active US Secret clearance level as a minimum. TS/SCI clearance would be preferred.WHAT YOU WILL BE DOINGMaintaining, troubleshooting, and configuring big data environments based on many open source and commercial productsSystem administration of development, test and production systems at various locations across the globeImplementing and utilizing monitoring, alerting, and response system capabilitiesAnalyzing system, software and user performance metrics to include trend captureImplementing and utilizing production change and compliance management systems covering hardware life cycle, system updates, software and security patching, and technology roadmapsMaintaining a suite of standard operating procedures (SOPs) to support production operations appropriate to existing or anticipated failure modes that expertly document responses to system failure issuesConfiguring and maintaining user account management interfaces and system supports including direct customer interfaceUtilizing security management capabilities and helping ensure a secure and DoD compliant service and system architectureSupporting the DevOps environment of cutting edge military and national defense related applicationsPeriodic planned, scheduled, and/or rotational on-call system maintenance support outside of normal duty hours, as requiredKeeping up with trends in DevSecOps and SREPerforming maintenance work on-site one weekend per monthProviding on-call support on some weeknights and weekends based on the predefined scheduleWHAT YOU HAVE DONEBS in Computer Science, equivalent degree, or previous work experience.5 year’s experience with Linux (CentOS or Red Hat or Ubuntu) system administration in a production environment.Conducted system performance and file integrity monitoringManaged user issue identification, reporting, tracking and feedback functionsEscalated user issues based on trends or alertsConducted vulnerability scanning, mitigation, and reporting functionsExperience with cloud hosting environments (AWS, Azure, Google, etc) orExperience with KVM or VMWare virtualization technologiesEVEN BETTERScripting experience (Bash, Python, Ruby, GO, Rust)Experience with Docker and KubernetesExperience with big data infrastructure to include Hadoop, Accumulo, Elasticsearch, and MongoDBUnderstand web application infrastructures to include Wildfly, Apache HTTPD, NGINX and Spring cloud productsExperience with configuration of direct attached and storage area network unitsInformation security experience and certifications (NIDS, HIDS, Auditing, Incident Response)Supported plans for security and cyber attack mitigationExperience with Agile methodologies, GIT and Atlassian productsExperience working in austere/deployed environmentsHave worked with US DoD, UK MoD, or another military organizationAt RII, we believe that diversity in our workforce is critical to our success.
