Regular, Full-Time, RCUH Non-Civil Service position with the University of Hawaii Cancer Center (UHCC), located in Honolulu, Hawaii. Continuation of employment is dependent upon program/operational needs, satisfactory work performance, availability of funds, and compliance with applicable Federal/State laws.
Conducts the basic and translational research to understand the aggressiveness of triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) and inflammatory breast cancer (IBC) and establish effective targeted therapies for patients with TNBC and IBC. Conducts lab experiments by technologies that include humanized/transgenic mouse modeling, immune profiling, single-cell RNA sequencing, multiplexed immunofluorescence staining, and in vitro and in vivo drug screening. Works with clinical collaborators to learn how to translate bench work into clinical trials.
Primary Qualifications
**EDUCATION**
PhD from an accredited college or university in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Cancer Biology, or related field. (PhD candidates may apply but must submit evidence of PhD completion upon hire.).
**EXPERIENCE**
One to three (1-3) years of laboratory research experience in molecular and cell biology.
**KNOWLEDGE**
Knowledge of cell and molecular biology and cancer biology. Knowledge of current related laboratory research performed in molecular biology, cancer cell biology, or cancer biology.
**ABILITIES and SKILLS**
Strong written and oral communication skills. Proficient in cell culture and molecular biology/immunology techniques. Ability to critically review current literature related to molecular biology, tumor immunology, and related laboratory research.
Post Offer/Employment Conditions: Must be able to pass a post offer criminal background check. Must complete Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) Human Subject training within three (3) months from date of hire. Must be able to complete the UH Title IX training within twelve (12) months from date of hire. Must complete the UH Lab Safety Training immediately after hire or prior to working in UHCC laboratories. Must complete the UH Hazardous Waste Generator Training immediately after hire or prior to working in UHCC laboratories. Must complete the online Hazard Communication training immediately after hire or no later than employees initial exposure to hazardous chemicals. Must be able to complete the UH Information Security Awareness Training (ISAT) within two (2) weeks from date of hire, and re-certify every twelve (12) months.
**PHYSICAL/MEDICAL DEMANDS**
