Purpose

Job Description

This position is a member of Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station’s Workforce Development team and is assigned to the Texas A&M Engineering Conferences and Events team. This position is responsible for the planning, implementing and executing special events, programs and presentations for the Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station and the College of Engineering, in addition to maintaining the events management system and supporting departmental and center related events as necessary. Position will require attendance at weekend and evening events.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, implement and execute special events, programs and conferences for the Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station and the College of Engineering, supervise, direct and coordinate event personnel and vendors, and provide post-event analysis, budget summaries and participation feedback.
  • Support and work within events management system
  • Support college, departmental, and center events and conferences, as necessary
  • Supervise student support staff
  • Spearhead major projects, improvement and implementation of new College-wide event policies and procedures
  • Manage Departmental Event Liaison (DEL) education and communication
  • This position requires direct engagement with minors and youth during program activities. The employee is expected to fully adhere to all university policies and state regulations pertaining to the safety and protection of minors.
  • Other duties as assigned

What We Need

  • Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two years of related event experience.

What Is Helpful

  • Administrative experience.
  • Experience with planning, implementing and executing events.
  • Event management software experience helpful, but not required.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Excellent oral and written communications skills and organizational skills
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and work in a fast-pace, deadline-oriented environment.
  • Ability to learn online reservation system, track numerous details, employ critical thinking, adapt quickly and use creative problem-solving skills.

Physical Requirements

  • Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds; requires a good deal of walking or standing

The Workforce Development Division of Texas A&M Engineering will be the premier provider of programs, conferences, professional development, and educational opportunities to prepare experts, employees and advocates for STEM-related fields. The Workforce Development Division has six programs: Spark! PK-12 Engineering Education Outreach, ReCENT, Engineering Academies, TEES EDGE Professional Education, Regional Divisions, Conference and Events Planning Services. Through these programs, the division creates and coordinates opportunities worldwide to hone expertise among engineering professionals and train or retrain those interested in emerging engineering fields while concurrently engaging with PK-collegiate educators and students to encourage future engineers.
