Position Summary

We are looking for a multifaceted Marketing & Outreach Coordinator who can tell our stories, engage our supporters, and jump in wherever the animals need us most. As the Marketing & Outreach Coordinator, you will be the voice and face of RPM. This role blends creative digital storytelling (social media, newsletters, blogs) with boots-on-the-ground outreach, event execution, and donor relations. You’ll be responsible for keeping our community engaged, driving fundraising efforts, and directly supporting lifesaving rescue operations. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on variety, enjoys connecting with the public, and can represent RPM at events, press appearances, or during everyday activities that support our mission. This position is ideal for someone with strong organizational skills, comfort with public speaking, and background in marketing and digital engagement in growing our supporter base and strengthening our brand. This person must have a deep passion for both people and animals and serve as an outward advocate for our mission. You must be comfortable and confident representing our organization’s stance on responsible pet ownership, including the critical importance of spay/neuter and adopting over shopping. This is a fully in person position based at RPM’s Houston facility. Regular, reliable, on site attendance is an essential function of this role. Because this position works closely with the clinic, transport, and operations teams, remote work is not available.


Key Responsibilities:


Digital Media & Content Creation

  • Mission-Driven Content: Create engaging, high-quality social media posts and Reels/Shorts that highlight RPM’s mission, encouraging giving, fostering, and volunteering.
  • Social Campaigns & Partnerships: Plan and execute social media strategies centered around strategic partnerships, fundraising campaigns, and urgent shelter/medical needs.
  • Community Management: Monitor and reply to inquiries in direct messages across Instagram, Nextdoor, and Facebook Groups.
  • Long-Form Content: Write and publish a monthly educational/impact blog and design the monthly community newsletter.

Events & Public Relations

  • Fundraising & Community Events: Help plan, set up, and staff RPM’s fundraising and outreach events (e.g., Free Community Pet Care Days, Happy Hours, Chefs for Paws).
  • Donor Events: Support donor events hosted off-site, as well as, at RPM’s clinic and boarding facility, managing setup, guest relations, and facility walk-throughs.
  • Ambassador & Media Representation: Represent RPM professionally at public-facing events and in local media appearances. 

Cross-Departmental Collaboration

  • Cross train with the Donor Relations Coordinator to understand key donors, how access to donor information and current donor actions in order to work in tandem to support and grow the donor base
  • Provide backup support during peak periods (e.g., GivingTuesday, Chefs for Paws, other major fundraisers) for donor, foster, and volunteer acknowledgment tasks
  • Draft thank-you emails and prepare handwritten cards as needed including coordinating with the staff to create and sign holiday cards
  • Assist with supporter appreciation logistics, including assembling gift bags or coordinating follow-ups
  • Step in to support clinic staff, volunteers, and transport preparation as needed. Animal rescue is unpredictable, and we operate as one team!


Required Qualifications:

  • Strong interpersonal skills and a proactive, service-oriented attitude
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in public speaking, outreach, or marketing
  • Social media fluency (especially Instagram and Facebook)
  • Proficient in Canva
  • Passion for animals and willingness to provide hands-on care as needed.
  • Computer fluency required (email, Google Sheets, Google Docs, Google Drive). 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Event planning experience
  • Grant writing experience
  • Fundraising knowledge and comfort with donor communication (both email and handwritten)
  • Graphic design experience


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods while performing frequent administrative tasks.
  • Ability to move throughout the office, clinic, kennels, and transport areas throughout the workday.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 80 pounds.
  • Ability to safely handle, restrain, and assist with large dogs when necessary.
  • Ability to safely handle or assist with fractious, fearful, or stressed cats using appropriate low-stress handling techniques and safety protocols.
  • Ability to work around animals of varying sizes, temperaments, and medical conditions.
  • Ability to tolerate frequent exposure to barking dogs, meowing cats, cleaning chemicals, animal waste, and other typical shelter or veterinary clinic conditions.
  • Comfortable working around large dogs, fractious cats, and animals with a variety of medical and behavioral needs.


Work Environment & Consideration

  • Work week is Monday through Friday 9am to 5pm
  • Must be available occasionally for evening and weekend events as needed
  • Comfortable interacting with dogs and cats, occasional mess, and high-paced rescue operations


This position is performed entirely on site at RPM’s Houston facility. Employees work closely with veterinary staff, foster coordinators, transport staff, volunteers, and animals throughout the day. The environment includes frequent interruptions, changing priorities, moderate noise levels, exposure to cleaning chemicals, and potential exposure to zoonotic diseases. Time spent outdoors, in transport areas, and in animal care areas are frequently required. 


Compensations & Benefits

  • Salary: $42,000–$46,000 annually, commensurate with experience
  • Benefits include:

-Dental and vision insurance

-Employer contribution toward medical insurance

-Two weeks paid time off (PTO) after 90 days of employment

The scope of this position may evolve over time based on organizational growth, operational priorities, and the needs of Rescued Pets Movement. Employees are expected to approach these responsibilities with flexibility, professionalism, and a collaborative team-oriented attitude.

Salary : $42,000 - $46,000
