Cleaner in our Facilities Department

JOB SUMMARY

Responsible to meet a high standard of performance for the cleanliness of Mission buildings.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Clean Mission campus buildings thoroughly and efficiently.
• Maintain accurate building checklists and log documentation.
• Maintain cart, equipment, storage rooms and supplies in good working condition.
• Specialized cleaning tasks.  ie: buffing, stripping and waxing floors.
• Respect and use all equipment per supervisor’s and equipment’s operating guidelines.
• Document and report all mechanical, electrical, etc. deficiencies with equipment/property immediately to supervisor.
• Minor maintenance tasks.  ie: changing light bulbs, changing toilet seats, etc.
• Assist with grounds keeping to include snow removal, lawn care, etc.
• Assist with moving furniture, clothing, donations, etc.
• Assist with pick ups and transporting of items.
• Use/wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times per the supervisor’s and safety guidelines.
• Observe safe work practices at all times with chemicals, equipment, etc.
• Use safety signs and any needed precautionary methods to assure safe standards.
• Abide by all Mission and program policies, procedures and guidelines.
• Attend and participate in regular meetings and trainings as requested by your supervisor.
• Required to complete annual mandatory trainings.
• Maintain a professional and approachable attitude on the Mission campus.
• Ability to work flexible schedule to accommodate specialized cleaning tasks.
• All other duties as requested by your supervisor.

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• One year of facility maintenance/cleaning experience
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
• Clean and valid NYS Driver’s License required within 90 days of employment for full-time, preferred for part-time
• Enthusiastic support of our Mission Statement

PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS

The tasks described signify many of the physical requirements of this position, based on a Time Weighted Average of an 8-hour work day.

• Lifting 25 or more lbs.
• Pushing/pulling up to 100 lbs.
• Reaching overhead with up to 20 lbs. of other material
• Twisting at the torso in stationary position
• Use of stationary or portable machinery: Lawnmower, electric pruning tools, ladders, snow equipment, etc.
• Ability to safely operate and drive vans, pickup trucks, etc.
• Bending at waist using legs to lift heavy objects up to 50 lbs.
• Bending at the waist to perform work at that level
• Walking and standing for extended period or time (3-4 hours)
• Walking up and down stairs
• Exposure to heat & cold
• Typing on a computer and using a mouse.

Status/Hours: 40 hours per week -- Monday-Friday - 8am-4pm 

Pay Rate: $16.00-17.00 depending on experience
