Job Responsibilities
- Safely set up and operate department machines and handle materials per standards. I.E., lasers, waterjet, shear, saws, etc.
- Create, select, align, and secure holding fixtures, attachments, accessories for machine.
- Safely and accurately operate machines to produce metal work pieces to quality and efficiency standards.
- Safely load materials with overhead cranes, sheet lifts, forklifts, manually, etc. as required.
- Repetitively lift and place metal blanks or work pieces into bins, boxes, etc. when unloading tables.
- Read job travelers, drawings, nests and programs to determine specifications, such as materials/finish types to be used, machine set up conditions, dimensions and tolerances, proper labeling of parts, part accuracy, quantity, etc.
- Measure dimensions of finished work pieces to ensure conformance to specifications using precision measurement devices, as required.
- Accurately document/record information in written form on provided job traveler.
- Perform operator maintenance on machines to address quality/productivity issues per established maintenance schedules and as needed.
- Stage parts for next work center in proper area.
- Tag, pack and ship any orders that are completed.
- Comply with all safety policies and company practices/procedures.
- Available for overtime as needed to complete customer projects.
- Support other areas of shop, as needed, and complete additional tasks requested by management.
- Must be able to use mathematics relevant to job functions, such as decimals, percentages,
- and fractions (geometry and trigonometry is a plus)
- Ability to read and understand manufacturing planning, engineering blueprints, sketches
- Knowledge of workplace OSHA safety requirements and procedures
- Ability to operate required tools/equipment in a safe and responsible manner
- Lead is responsible for carrying out day-to-day tasks and duties as other employees in the department.
- In addition, for carrying out job duties, the lead will have a high degree of visibility and access to employees on the shop floor, customer job site, etc. throughout the shift.
- Communicate and collaborate with other team members. Will give out work assignments and schedule work as needed or assigned.
- Performs precision tool machining operations through monitoring feed rates, speed, and special instruments. Conducts inspections through the utilization of measuring instruments that provide for accuracy. Uses calipers, micrometers, gauges, indicators, and scales. Troubleshoots malfunctions by editing specifications and ensuring maintenance of machines. Continuously performs preventative maintenance, which includes cleaning and maintaining safe work-spaces. Meets the organizational production goals including cycle time, quantity, and quality to enhance machining excellence. Utilizes blueprints and dimensions, machine instructions, and special project guidelines. Should have working knowledge of programming equipment machines to ensure proper calculations, parameters, and other conditional requirements are met.
- Leads by example following all department, company, customer, state, and federal laws/procedures.
- Ensures team has necessary equipment and tools to complete tasks; schedules equipment maintenance as required
- Position may be required to complete specific reports, forms and other information required by department/division. Such as Customer reports, packing slips, proof of delivery, safety forms (company or Customer related), etc.
- Maybe asked to participate in interview process for new team members based on need. Mentor and coach team of technicians; Audit performance quality and build training plans for direct reports. Ensure staff are motivated and productive.
- Cultivate and maintain customer relationships with internal customers, external customers, and vendors. Conduct client communication in a highly customer service-oriented manner.
- Work with local leadership to ensure continuous improvement strategic business initiatives are implemented and maintained. In a timely manner, reports any employee, team, WC, safety, or other concerns to manager.
- Work may require flexible hours, weekends, holidays, and night work to work, coordinate and/or communicate location business needs.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Required accreditation from a technical school or an applicable skilled trades program.
- At least 4 to 6 years of experience in the specific industry or related field.
- Must be able to work safely and adhere to all electrical safety procedures.
- Work may require flexible hours, weekends, and holidays.
- Strong communication (written and oral). Able to communicate with a variety of individuals and departments.
- Able to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Able to work with various people throughout the organization-Customer Focused.

- Should have a solid understanding of CNC machine operation, blueprint reading, and basic mechanical aptitude.
- Experience with Trumpf CNC laser/Punch cutters and press brakes, as well as familiarity with programming software like TruTops or similar, is highly valued.
- Attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication are important soft skills for this position. These qualifications ensure precision manufacturing, safe machine operation, and efficient workflow within a team-oriented production environment.
