The Circuit Breaker Technician I will be troubleshooting and testing low voltage circuit breakers. This position will also test, author test reports, and troubleshoot electromechanical components and sub-assemblies. Following all safety rules and best practices, the Technician will report to the Production Supervisor.
Responsibilities
- Perform general maintenance on electric circuit breakers across a broad spectrum of manufacturers.
- Final electrical and mechanical functional tests may also be required.
- Hands on inspection, dismantling, cleaning, repair, reassembly and calibration of all types of electric circuit breakers.
- Perform basic electrical testing to ensure proper operation of the circuit breaker in accordance with customer requirements test and troubleshoot circuit breakers and auxiliary devices, calibrate to OEM guidelines.
- Prepare circuit breaker test sheet documenting all "as found" and "as left" conditions and testing results.
- Maintain strong client relationships through quality and quantity of work performed.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Mechanical aptitude with experience in overhauling and maintaining mechanical equipment such as motors, engines, or similar devices.
- Some knowledge of circuit breakers associated with low voltage switchgear applications of up to 600v and medium voltage applications up to 15KV.
- Basic understanding of electrical power systems, ability to read electrical schematics or wiring diagrams and a good aptitude for problem evaluation.
- Complete projects consistently on time.
- Able to write detailed reports.
- Communicate effectively, writing and verbally, good judgment, dependable and possess good organizational skills.
- Knowledge of NETA, PEARL, and ANSI Standards for testing Electrical Power Equipment such as Circuit Breakers, Switches, Bus Plugs, etc.
- Computer skills including editing, formatting and using templates, use of Internet for standards, products, and manufacturer research.
- Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk, hear, and smell.
- Regularly lift and or move up to 25-50 pounds.
- High School diploma or GED and 1 year of experience or a mix of education and experience.
