RER Solutions, Inc., is accepting resumes for a Senior Strategy Consultant to join our superior workforce. The Senior Strategy Consultant will provide onsite and remote federal program support to the Department of Energy Loan Programs Office’s Strategy team to bridge bankability for emerging clean energy technologies to accelerate deployment, market adoption, and the equitable transition to a decarbonized energy system.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Advise on planning, execution, and enhancement of current programs to address systemic barriers to deploying clean energy technologies.
• Develop targeted analyses that address potential pathways to accelerate the deployment of critical clean energy technologies to inform and shape the application of LPO’s authorities.
• Work to build alignments across DOE offices and other relevant U. S. government agencies on identified pathways to commercial scale and the role LPO and other programs can play to support them effectively.
• Utilize data analysis to support strategy and policy decisions in this context across various markets, energy technologies, and end uses.
• Engage with internal and external stakeholders across the clean energy ecosystem to test and refine hypotheses on pathways to achieving commercialization at scale for clean energy technologies.
• These stakeholders include but are not limited to clean energy companies (sponsors and growth stage start-ups), investors, lenders, regulators, industry trade groups, research organizations, and local and state authorities.
• Work with other DOE offices to facilitate the flow of institutional capital into clean energy projects through periodic engagement with banks, venture capital and private equity funds, infrastructure funds, and sovereign wealth funds.
• Develop an understanding of critical barriers to capital flows and potential mitigation strategies.
• Conduct financial modeling to assess clean energy technology business model bankability and adoption readiness.
• Conduct analyses to provide future insights into and assess LPO’s current portfolio of investments in clean energy projects, utilizing input from various internal and external sources, including subject matter experts.
• Prepare strategic analyses and briefing materials for senior Department leadership to communicate findings on pathways to commercial scale for clean energy deployment and capital formation for clean energy technologies and sectors.

Requirements

• Minimum of US Citizenship required to obtain client-issued Public Trust
• 2 years of experience in management consulting and investment banking or private equity is preferred
• Energy or natural resources experience is strongly preferred
• Excellent ability to understand and synthesize information into the most important takeaways
• Superior analytics and financial modeling skills
• Strategic thinker with a solid capacity to self-direct attention to the highest priority dimensions of a multi-faceted problem
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Excellent attention to detail and an understanding of fundamental business writing
• Expertise in Microsoft Office Products (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
