The Food Safety Coordinator at Request Foods will oversee daily review of food safety related paperwork to ensure adherence to all applicable food safety regulations and protocols within the food manufacturing facilities. This role will support development and ongoing reassessment of HACCP and Food Safety plans in collaboration with a cross-functional team.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Champion and support a positive food safety culture by promoting awareness, accountability, and consistent behavior at all levels of the organization
- Develop an understanding of the Request Foods Food Safety Policies and how they are applied to our processes
- Support on-boarding new products and food safety related equipment
- Review, maintain, and update the Food Safety Plans for existing products (including annual reassessments, flow diagrams etc.)
- Lead validation and verification of food safety processes and complete written assessments
- Work cross functionally with Quality Services, R&D, Operations, and Maintenance teams, to develop food-safe practices
- Collect, organize, review, and maintain daily food safety paperwork
- Develop corrective actions and follow-up with kitchen or production members when food safety issues occur
- Monitor, review, and update Food Safety support programs (thermometers, pre-operation/operational paperwork, GMP, etc…)
- Support Food Safety team meetings and present current or upcoming Food Safety issues
- Support presentation of the Food Safety program during customer and regulatory audits
- Assist in maintaining USDA relations through regular communication including quarterly assessment reports
- Manage Product Release program including product stored at 3rd party warehouses
Key Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in a food manufacturing environment. A science related degree (biology, chemistry) is preferred
- Strong computer skills – Excel, Word, Power Point
- Keen attention to detail
- Background in SAP
- Strong communication and organization skills
- Excellent troubleshooting and critical thinking skills
