Stacker

JOB SUMMARY: Incumbent works as a Stacker in the Finishing or Delivery or Assembly Department.   Duties of the position are the following:

Load and unload cabinets onto pallets.

Work as a two-man team for cabinets weighing more than 75 lbs.

Convey materials from stacking area to delivery area by assisting in loading cabinets/countertops into company trucks. Prepare load by bracing and securing padding.

Move from one task to another where demands require worker, with varied experience and ability, to work without close supervision.

Perform other duties assigned.

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED OF THE POSITION:

Ability to lift heavy objects.

Ability to use proper tools of the trade.

Ability to work safely and follow safety procedures when lifting heavy objects.

Ability to follow instructions.

Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision.

SUPERVISORY CONTROLS:

The supervisor defines the objectives and priorities, informs the incumbent of special priorities. The incumbent independently carries out regular and recurring assignments without assistance.  However, the supervisor is available for advice on any deviations, problems, or unusual instructions.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work is performed inside.   Area may be noisy, dusty, hot, cold, or drafty. The work site is well lighted, well ventilated, and easily accessible.

PHYSICAL EFFORT:

Required standing on hard surfaces for extended periods of time, to bend, stoop, and work in tiring and sometimes uncomfortable positions.  Consistently lift and carry items that weigh up to 75 lbs. and move, maneuver, push, or slide items for proper position.  Heavier items are moved with assistance from other workers.

SAFETY AND HEALTH REQUIREMENTS:

Employee is required to wear safety equipment appropriate for the job and work area assigned, as directed by the Supervisor.
