Job Title: Heavy Equipment Operator

Reports To: Shift Supervisor

Location: Berkeley, SC

Status: Non-Exempt

Summary: Monday - Friday, Saturdays as needed.

The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for operating material handlers, excavators, and front-end loaders to move and manage materials at our recycling facility. This role ensures the safe and efficient flow of operations during the shift. Shifts are rotating shifts between 7am - 5:30pm, Monday - Friday and Saturday as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

· Safely operate material handlers, excavators, and front-end loaders to load, unload, and move material.

· Complete daily equipment logs and safety checklists.

· Perform pre- and post-shift equipment inspections, including fluid checks and overall condition.

· Coordinate with the Tip Floor Supervisor to ensure efficient truck flow and material management.

· Identify and remove large non-recyclable materials from sorting piles.

· Work carefully around vendor trailers, recycling trucks, and foot traffic to maintain safety.

· Keep equipment clean and free from debris.

· Assist during breaks or staffing shortages and support team cross-training.

· Report any potential hazards to management immediately.

· Any other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

· Prior experience operating material handlers, excavators, or front-end loaders is required

· Ability to sit or stand for long periods and lift up to 40 pounds

· Strong awareness of safety protocols and a proactive attitude toward workplace hazards

· Must be comfortable working in an indoor/outdoor industrial environment

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
