What are the responsibilities and job description for the Travel Baseball Head Coach / Assistant Coach (8U–16U) position at Replay Baseball Institute?
Replay Baseball Institute runs a competitive travel program (8U–16U) out of a 14,000 sq ft indoor facility in Fairfax. Our program was built and is led by coaches with professional and MLB-affiliated backgrounds — Rangers (World Series), Reds, Nationals, and Dodgers organizations. We're not looking for someone to run a rec team on weekends. We're looking for coaches who want to own a roster, develop real players, and represent a program that parents already trust.
If you've played at a high level and you want to build a winning, developmental travel team with professional infrastructure behind you — this is the seat.
What You'll Own
- Lead (or assist on) a travel roster in one division from 8U–16U across the season
- Run practices, set lineups, manage in-game strategy, and develop each player's individual plan
- Be the face of RBI to your team's families — communication, culture, and retention
- Coach at weekend tournaments and showcases throughout the DMV and beyond
- Identify and recruit talent at tryouts; help grow your roster year over year
- Feed players into private instruction and off-season development (revenue share available)
Who We're Looking For
- Playing background: College, professional, or high-level travel/showcase experience (strongly preferred — this is a credibility-driven program)
- Coaching experience: Prior travel or select team coaching; you understand tournament formats, pitch counts, and player development at the competitive level
- Leadership: You can build culture, hold kids accountable, and earn the trust of demanding parents
- Reliability: Weekend tournament availability is non-negotiable during the season
- Bonus: Bilingual (English/Spanish), pitching/hitting specialization, existing DMV player relationships
- Must pass a background check (working with minors)
What We Offer That Other Programs Can't
- Direct mentorship and player-development systems from MLB-affiliated coaches
- A 14,000 sq ft indoor facility for year-round practice — no weather cancellations, no scrambling for field time
- An established brand parents already recognize and pay for
- Revenue share on private lessons and off-season programming — build your own book of business inside ours
- A real path: assistant → head coach → division/program leadership as we expand
Compensation Structure
- Seasonal stipend: $2,500–$6,000 based on division and head vs. assistant role
- Private lesson revenue share ($40–$70/hr range depending on demand)
- Top coaches on a growing program earn well into six figures across a full year
