Position Summary
REON is seeking a Senior Business Development Manager to drive the growth of our commercial and industrial energy storage business.
This role operates across both direct customer acquisition and channel-driven sales, with a primary focus on originating and converting opportunities through the candidate’s own industry network, while also expanding strategic partnerships across EPCs and related market participants.
The ideal candidate is a network-driven business developer who can translate industry relationships into qualified pipeline and actively drive opportunities through commercial engagement, proposal development, and deal closure.
This is an on-site role based in our office. Candidates should be able to work in person on a full-time basis.
Key Responsibilities
1. Opportunity Origination (Core Focus)
- Originate new business opportunities through existing industry relationships across C&I energy storage applications
- Develop and maintain a self-sourced pipeline spanning EPCs, channel partners, and direct end customers
- Identify high-potential use cases including peak shaving, backup power, energy shifting, and solar integration
2. Channel & Direct Sales Execution
- Drive both partner-led (EPC/channel) and direct customer engagements across target segments
- Build and expand relationships with EPCs, commercial real estate groups, energy management firms, developers, consultants, and ESCOs
- Convert industry relationships into qualified commercial opportunities and active deal flow
3. Deal Development & Commercial Execution
- Lead customer engagement to define project requirements, application fit, and commercial drivers
- Lead proposal development, customer presentations, and commercial discussions
- Drive opportunities through the full sales cycle, including qualification, proposal, negotiation, and contract execution
- Participate in pricing discussions, ROI considerations, and commercial structuring of solutions
4. Internal & Market Alignment
- Coordinate with engineering, product, and leadership teams to align technical solutions with customer needs
- Maintain accurate pipeline visibility, forecasting discipline, and account tracking
- Provide market feedback on customer needs, channel dynamics, and competitive positioning
5. Industry Presence
- Represent REON at customer meetings, industry events, trade shows, and partner discussions
Required Qualifications
- 5 years of experience in energy storage, renewables, distributed energy, or related sectors
- Deep understanding of SMART program and ISO-NE Demand Response programs
- Demonstrated ability to originate business opportunities independently through existing industry relationships
- Proven experience in business development, strategic sales, or commercial partnerships
- Strong professional network in one or more of the following areas: EPC, commercial real estate, energy management, ESCO, project development, or distributed energy infrastructure
- Solid understanding of C&I energy storage use cases, including peak shaving, backup power, energy shifting, resiliency, and solar integration
- Experience managing multi-stakeholder, infrastructure-related sales processes
- Strong communication, presentation, and relationship management skills
- Highly organized and able to operate effectively in a fast-moving environment
- Ability to work on-site full-time
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong industry references and established reputation within the energy ecosystem
- Experience selling or developing C&I battery energy storage systems or integrated energy solutions
- Existing relationships with EPC contractors, developers, commercial property owners, or energy service providers
- Experience leading proposals, RFP/RFQ responses, and commercial negotiations
- Familiarity with customer investment drivers, including project economics, payback, and ROI discussions
