Position Overview
The Renzi Education and Art Center is seeking a creative and engaging Visual Art Instructor to guide students through hands-on art exploration and skill-building.
Our classes are kept small—allowing for a supportive, studio-style environment where kids can experiment with medium, technique, and creative self-expression. Instructors design and bring their own unique course concepts to life over the 7-week term. Classes are split into fast-paced 25-minute interactive blocks for younger students and a focused 45-minute block for teens.
Key Responsibilities
- Studio Facilitation: Guide small groups of students through projects exploring foundational art concepts (e.g., drawing, painting, mixed media, sculpture, or color theory).
- 7-Week Project Pacing: Structure your curriculum so students complete meaningful, finished projects or a mini portfolio by Week 7.
- Studio Management & Cleanup: Teach students proper respect for materials and ensure paints, brushes, workspace surfaces, and supplies are cleaned and put away efficiently at the end of each session.
- Adaptable Instruction: Adjust project complexity between quick, high-energy 25-minute sessions for younger kids and deeper 45-minute projects for teens.
- Professional Alignment: Coordinate with the Program Director regarding supply needs, student attendance, and overall program updates.
Refined Qualifications
This role is well-suited for practicing artists, art educators, community creatives, or college students majoring in Fine Arts/Art Education.
- Artistic Versatility: Strong grasp of visual art fundamentals and comfort working with a variety of traditional mediums (watercolor, acrylics, oil pastels, clay, sketching, etc.).
- Instructional Capability: Ability to patiently break down technique step-by-step for beginners while challenging more advanced students.
- Classroom Management: Comfort maintaining an encouraging, organized environment where messy creative work stays structured and cleanup runs on time.
- Reliability: Dependable attendance for your selected afternoon(s) across the 7-week session. Consistent communication regarding arrival times is essential.
- Background Screening: Must successfully pass a standard criminal background check prior to the contract start date.
