Salary Range $15.00 to $22.66
Job Summary:
Maintains Renville County highways, rural roads, ditches, and rights-of-way in safe condition.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other responsibilities and duties may be assigned.
Roadside vegetation control with tractor mower and sprayer.
Drives tractor with mower attachment for grass, weed, and brush control; and maintains equipment.
Picking up litter along roads.
Upkeep of various County Shops and grounds.
Job Relationships:
Internal Interactions With: Other Public Works personnel, Landfill personnel; Sheriff’s office.
External Interactions With: City and Township officials; May field complaints from the public.
Qualification Requirements:

Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or two to four years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Valid Class D Driver’s License
Language Skills:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical and Computer Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and judge depth and density.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to use independent judgment to analyze a variety of changing conditions and determine the course of action necessary to continue, complete or initiate a wide range of work assignments.
Other Skills and Abilities:
Heavy Equipment Experience, preferred. Ability to operate the equipment described under the duties of the position. Ability to manage own properties and schedule in area of responsibility, or assigned geographic area. Ability to deal with confrontations with citizens with calmness. Very visible to public and must be capable of effective interactions with members of the public.

The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to flammable materials, extreme heat, and risk of electrical shock, plus hazards or traffic conditions.
Employee will be mowing road ditches with variable slopes, this has a potential danger of tractor overturning.
The noise level in the work environment is usually loud, and constant.
