Job Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented Registered Nurse (RN) to join our plastic surgery practice. The RN will provide high quality nursing care to patients in a office and minor procedure setting including preparing for consultations and procedures, intake and EMR documentation, assisting the surgeon and ensuring high-quality patient experiences throughout the surgical journey.
Work Schedule and Work Environment:
- Work schedule is during the day shift 3 full days per week; work schedules may vary to meet patient scheduling needs.
- This position will be working primarily in the Brunswick office; travel to other locations (St. Marys and Waycross) may be required 1-2 times per week (compensation for additional drive time and mileage reimbursement provided).
Responsibilities:
- Performs intake of patient information including history, symptoms, and medication
- Accurately enters documentation in patient's electronic medical record (EMR)
- Prepares for and assists surgeon in minor procedures (skills training provided by Renue)
- Provides nursing care independently during recovery process such as dressing changes and suture removal
- Deliver a high level of patient satisfaction by providing compassionate, clear communication.
- Educate patients on pre- and post-operative care protocols and expectations.
- Respond to patient inquiries and concerns promptly and professionally.
- Ensures exam rooms and procedure rooms have the necessary equipment and supplies
- Sterilizes instruments
- Completes disability and other clinically-related forms
- Participates in required training and adheres to applicable standards and policies
- Other duties as required
Qualifications:
- Current RN or LPN license in Georgia (as applicable)
- BLS and ACLS (for RNs) certification required (can obtain post-hire, if needed)
- Excellent knowledge of nursing care methods and procedures (previous experience in plastic surgery or dermatology practice is a plus)
- Proficient in EMR systems and documentation
- Strong manual dexterity and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Outstanding organizational and multi-tasking skills
- Exercises good judgement, and demonstrates solid critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work with little to no supervision, once trained.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Possess the tact to deal effectively with patients, physicians and co-workers.
Physical Requirements
- Able to stand, bend, stoop, and/or sit for long periods of time in one location with minimum/no breaks.
- Able to lift a minimum of 45 pounds.
- Able to refrain from nourishment or restroom breaks for periods up to 6 hours.
- Demonstrate sufficient visual ability enough to load a fine (7-0) suture onto needles and needle holders with/without corrective lenses and while wearing safety glasses.
- Demonstrate sufficient peripheral vision to anticipate and function while in the sterile surgical environment.
- Hear and understand muffled communication without visualization of the communicator’s mouth/lips and within 20 feet.
- Hear activation/warning signals on equipment.
- Able to detect odors sufficient to maintain environmental safety and patient needs.
- Manipulate instruments, supplies and equipment with speed, dexterity, and good eye-hand coordination using assistive devices.
- Able to assist with and/or lift, move, position, and manipulate the patient who is unconscious with or without assistive devices.
- Communicate and understand fluent English both verbally and in writing.
- To be free of reportable communicable diseases and chemical abuse.
- Function without allergic reaction in an environment with substantial latex exposure.
- Able to demonstrate immunity (natural or artificial) to Rubella, Rubeola, Tuberculosis, and Hepatitis B, or be vaccinated against these diseases, or willing to sign a waiver or release of liability regarding these diseases.
- Possess short- and long-term memory sufficient to perform tasks such as, but not limited to, mentally tracking surgical supplies and performing anticipation skills interoperability.
