Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) to join our mental health services team. The LPC will provide comprehensive mental health counseling, including individual and group therapy, to diverse populations across outpatient and inpatient settings. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact by supporting clients through various challenges such as trauma, grief, behavioral issues, developmental disabilities, and chronic pain. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in psychotherapy and a strong understanding of medical and behavioral health terminology, with the ability to deliver evidence-based treatments including cognitive behavioral therapy, psychodynamic therapy, art therapy, dance/movement therapy, and applied behavior analysis.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough patient assessments and diagnostic evaluations utilizing ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT coding, and medical documentation standards.
- Develop individualized treatment plans incorporating modalities such as psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, psychodynamic therapy, art therapy, dance therapy, behavioral therapy, and group therapy.
- Provide direct support through individual and group counseling sessions focused on mental health issues including PTSD, grief, addiction, gender issues, developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, and chronic pain management.
- Implement crisis intervention strategies and crisis management protocols to ensure client safety.
- Facilitate intake assessments and coordinate case management activities for diverse populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, patients with disabilities or developmental disorders, and those in inpatient or outpatient settings.
- Maintain HIPAA-compliant medical records while ensuring accurate documentation of patient care and progress notes.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient care plans and support research initiatives related to behavioral health outcomes.
- Utilize telehealth platforms effectively to expand access to mental health services.
- Stay current with medical terminology updates and ICD coding practices relevant to behavioral health diagnoses.
Requirements
- Valid licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC).
- Proven experience in psychotherapy modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy, psychodynamic therapy, art/dance/movement therapies, applied behavior analysis, or addiction counseling.
- Demonstrated expertise in crisis management, crisis intervention techniques, behavior management strategies, and working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism spectrum disorders.
- Experience working across various settings including outpatient clinics, inpatient facilities, hospitals or special education environments preferred.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology related to mental health conditions and familiarity with ICD-9/ICD-10 coding systems.
- Proficiency in medical documentation standards while maintaining strict confidentiality under HIPAA regulations.
- Excellent communication skills for patient assessment discussions and collaboration with healthcare teams.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
