What are the responsibilities and job description for the Outreach & Recruitment Manager position at Renton Technical College?
The Outreach & Recruitment Manager is represented by the Renton Professional Technical Association (Prof-Tech) union. This is a full-time, classified, and overtime eligible position reporting to the Director of Outreach & Recruitment. The pay range for this role is $73,882 - $92,698 annually, and salary placement is based on applicable work experience. New hires may not be placed above Step 10 ($88,782). Renton Technical College, located southeast of Seattle, has provided quality education in a variety of occupations for over 75 years. Our professional-technical certificate and degree programs offer entry and mid-level training in the areas of allied health, trades, and industry, culinary, business, technology, and automotive. Our outstanding college & career pathways program with classes in adult basic education, English as a second language, and GED preparation is available to those who need additional preparation before entering a training program and for those who simply wish to improve their math and English skills. Career Education and apprenticeships degrees round out our offerings.
- Develop and facilitate on-campus events, tours, Information Sessions, and programming to showcase RTC’s educational offerings to prospective students, current CCP students, high schools, and community-based organizations.
- Develop and coordinate marketing, recruiting, and outreach activities to enhance knowledge of and participation in K-12, Community Based Organizations. Use research and supports from the student achievement council.
- Work closely with admissions, financial aid, and registrar to facilitate dual admissions, student support, and seamless transition to the college.
- Collaborate with faculty and staff across the campus and district to lead outreach, intake, onboarding initiatives, and execute events and programming.
- Build and maintain relationships with appropriate K-12 partners & community-based organizations in RTC service district.
- Work with external organizations, community members, college and district staff to develop and implement best practices related to recruitment and retention targeted at diverse populations of students.
- Partner with Institutional Research to help track students and analyze and report data related to student outreach, enrollment and retention.
- Compile and report outreach and recruitment data.
- Assist students with the College's entry process and make appropriate referrals for additional student support as needed.
- Support the college's mission by creating a learning and work environment of mutual respect and fairness, while encouraging creative and critical thinking. Contribute to the appreciation of diversity and foster a climate of multicultural understanding.
- Communicate professionally and effectively, both orally and in writing, with college employees, departments and outside agencies.
- Maintain regular attendance and punctuality.
- Perform other related projects and assignments as assigned.
- Experience or participation with persons from diverse backgrounds such as sexual orientation, racial, ethnic, religious, linguistic, gender, age, socio-economic, physical and learning abilities, and a commitment to an inclusive and equitable working / learning environment.
- Bachelor’s degree and one year of experience with outreach and recruitment. Experience with the K-12 system is preferred.
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal skills, and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Work collaboratively with community members, external organizations, students, staff, faculty, and administration.
- Demonstrated ability to promote universal design and accessibility. Proficiency in (or ability to learn within 6 months of hire) the production of accessible content, whether print or electronic.
- Ability to perform frequent presentations to audiences of varying sizes.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, think critically, and exercise independent judgment required.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office, specifically experience creating & editing documents, spreadsheets, and presentations. Previous success learning new computer software programs/platforms is required.
- Demonstrated attention to detail and experience maintaining accurate records, managing multiple tasks, and planning and organizing work to meet changing priorities or deadlines.
- Ability to represent the college in a positive and professional manner, while using tact, discretion and courtesy.
- Ability to speak a regionally top spoken language other than English is preferred (Spanish, Vietnamese, Russian, Somali, and Chinese).
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS, LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
- Ability to lift 25 lbs. safely.
- Valid driver’s license, insurance, and reliable transportation
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Working hours are generally aligned to college business hours, however, there will be frequent evening events (on and off campus) the position will organize and/or facilitate. Occasional evening and weekend work is required. This position will move throughout campus frequently, utilizing various spaces to facilitate planned activities. The position will also have regular travel to locations within the RTC service district. Work will occur on-campus, remotely, and in the community, under the direction of the supervisor.
