Position Overview
Renton Fish & Game Club is seeking a reliable and safety-focused Range Master to oversee daily operations of our rifle and pistol range. This position is responsible for ensuring a safe, organized, and professional environment for all members and guests while maintaining strict adherence to club policies and firearms safety standards.
Schedule
- Full-time, 40 hours per week
- Wednesday–Sunday, 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM
- Weekend availability required
Compensation
- Pay: Commensurate with experience
- Status: Non-Exempt (hourly)

Requirements
- Pre-employment criminal background check required
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all daily range operations and enforce safety protocols
- Monitor and ensure safe firearm handling at all times
- Enforce club policies and maintain order on the range
- Maintain inventory and proper storage of range equipment, targets, and safety gear
- Perform routine inspections and ensure range readiness
- Maintain accurate records of operations, maintenance, and incidents
- Respond quickly and effectively to emergencies
- Promote a strong culture of safety and responsible firearm use
Qualifications & Knowledge
- Strong knowledge of firearm safety, handling, and maintenance
- Understanding of proper shooting techniques and instruction
- Familiarity with range operations and safety procedures
- Knowledge of lead exposure precautions and environmental safety practices
- Customer service mindset with the ability to work with a diverse membership
Skills & Abilities
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to remain calm and decisive in high-pressure situations
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
- Ability to enforce rules professionally and consistently
- Capable of managing inventory and maintaining operational procedures
- Proficient with basic computer systems (POS, spreadsheets, reports)
Preferred Experience
- 5 years in shooting sports, firearms industry, or related field
- Prior Range Master or Range Safety Officer experience strongly preferred
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and move for extended periods
- Lift and carry up to 50 lbs
- Work outdoors in varying conditions and around noise
- Perform physical tasks including bending, lifting, climbing, and use of tools
- Ability to navigate uneven terrain
Work Environment
- Active firearms range environment
- Exposure to noise, outdoor conditions, and regulated materials
- Requires strict adherence to all safety and environmental protocols

Pay: $23.00 - $25.00 per hour
