Renown Rehabilitation Hospital is the only CARF-accredited rehabilitation hospital in Northern Nevada (accreditations include general rehabilitation, stroke and brain injury).
This is a full-time, on-site Speech Language Pathologist role based in Reno, NV. The Speech Language Pathologist will evaluate patients of varying ages and conditions, administer standardized assessments, and develop individualized treatment plans for speech, language, cognitive-communication, voice, fluency, and swallowing disorders. The role includes delivering evidence-based therapy, monitoring progress, and adjusting interventions to support functional communication and safe swallowing. Daily responsibilities also include documenting evaluations and treatments in the electronic medical record, collaborating with an interdisciplinary team, and educating patients, families, and caregivers on strategies and home programs. The Speech Language Pathologist will participate in care conferences, contribute to quality improvement and clinical education initiatives, and uphold all regulatory, ethical, and safety standards.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program and current state licensure (or eligibility for licensure) as a Speech Language Pathologist in Nevada.
- Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from ASHA, or Clinical Fellowship candidate working toward certification.
- Demonstrated clinical skills in assessment and treatment of speech, language, cognitive-communication, voice, fluency, and swallowing disorders across diverse patient populations.
- Experience interpreting and applying standardized assessments, developing patient-centered treatment plans, and using evidence-based therapeutic techniques.
- Proficiency with electronic medical records, accurate documentation, and time management in a fast-paced clinical environment.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills for working effectively with patients, families, caregivers, and interdisciplinary team members.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or ability to obtain within required timeframe.
- Ability to work on-site, adapt to changing caseloads and care settings (e.g., inpatient, outpatient, rehabilitation), and participate in occasional evening or weekend coverage as needed.
- Preferred: Experience in acute care or rehabilitation settings, bilingual or multilingual abilities, and prior work within an academic or teaching health system.
