What are the responsibilities and job description for the Acute Float Pool-Care Aide position at Renown Health?
Position Purpose
This position will assist with various duties within the hospital setting to aid in patient experience, throughput, and optimizing the efficiency of the licensed care givers in the delivery of care. This position may be utilized as a float Care Aide in Acute Services Division, including Renown Regional Medical Center, Renown South Meadows, and Renown Rehabilitation in the units where competencies are assessed and demonstrated.
Nature and Scope
This position assists patients with personal hygiene, mobility, safety and provides comfort to Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult and Geriatric patients as direct by the care team in a timely and consistent manner. The incumbent must be knowledgeable of the uses of equipment specific to the area of employment. This position is responsible to annually demonstrate proficiency in body mechanics, fire safety, infection control, patient safety, CPR, and safe handling of hazardous materials.
These Duties Include, But Are Not Limited To
Acute Float Pool Care Aides will float to the emergency room, all inpatient units, and other departments where Care Aides are utilized at Renown Regional Medical Center, Renown South Meadows, and Renown Rehab Hospital.
This position does provide patient care.

Education:
Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English. Current enrollment in an accredited nursing or healthcare related program or graduate from a healthcare related program preferred.
Experience
Patient / healthcare related experience preferred.

Certification(s)
Current AHA BLS course within 30 days of hire.
Computer / Typing
Must possess, or be able to obtain within 90 days, the computers skills necessary to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.

These Duties Include, But Are Not Limited To
- Unit Clerk responsibilities.
- Stocking of unit supplies.
- Mobility of patients
- Hourly patient rounding
- Responding to call lights
- Ensuring patients have appropriate belongings, etc. and are ready for discharge.
- Transporting of supplies, etc.
- Transporting patients.
- Extenders for care givers within scope.
- Act as a patient safety assistant.
- Delivery and set up of meal trays
- Assistance with feeding patients in compliance with the patient’s dietary orders.
- Assistance with activities of daily living (hand hygiene, brushing teeth, getting dressed, toileting, etc.).
- Document care in the electronic medical record
