Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Substance Abuse Group Facilitator to lead and support group therapy sessions for individuals battling addiction and behavioral health challenges. Duties
- Facilitate group therapy sessions focused on substance abuse recovery, mental health support, and behavioral management using evidence-based techniques such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to identify individual needs, develop treatment plans, and monitor progress throughout the recovery process.
- Implement motivational interviewing strategies to enhance client engagement, promote motivation for change, and support goal setting.
- Provide crisis intervention when necessary, ensuring immediate safety and appropriate referrals for additional support or hospitalization.
- Maintain detailed medical documentation including intake forms, progress notes, treatment plans, and discharge summaries in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams—including social workers, medical professionals, and case managers—to coordinate care plans tailored to each client’s unique circumstances.
- Collect data on treatment outcomes for research purposes and quality improvement initiatives while adhering to ICD coding standards (ICD-9/10) for accurate record-keeping.
- Engage in ongoing professional development related to addiction counseling, mental health counseling, trauma-informed care (such as PTSD), and community-based care practices.
Qualifications
- Associates, Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling or a related behavioral health field; clinical licensure preferred. CADC Intern also accepted.
- Proven experience in group therapy facilitation within addiction treatment or mental health settings.
- Strong knowledge of psychotherapy modalities including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), behavioral therapy, and motivational interviewing techniques.
- Familiarity with crisis management protocols and crisis intervention strategies.
- Experience with home & community care programs as well as hospital environments is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, medical records management, intake procedures, and HIPAA compliance is essential.
- Skills in patient assessment, case management, diagnostic evaluation (ICD coding), and data collection are required.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations including children & families affected by addiction or trauma-related issues such as PTSD.
