What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fleet Technician position at RENO-SPARKS INDIAN COLONY?
Position Summary: Under direction of the Director, coordinates the flow of vehicle maintenance activities for RSIC vehicles, ensure maintenance of department equipment, performs a variety of basic repairs related to fleet maintenance; diagnoses cause for faulty operation of vehicles and equipment and performs related work as required.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversees the Fleet’s computerized vehicle/equipment management system.
- Assists the Director in monitoring service contracts that concern vehicle maintenance operations, parts, fuel etc.
- Assist the Director in determining the Colony’s needs and coordinates services accordingly.
- Reviews schedules for repair and preventative maintenance.
- Coordinates vehicle/equipment warranty programs.
- Monitors the maintenance of grounds and facilities equipment for safety and operational needs.
- Assist the Director in development and monitoring of budget.
- Oversees and approves invoices and purchases for repairs, materials, supplies and equipment within scope of duties and granted authority.
- Assist the Director in evaluation of equipment to determine replacement timing.
- Supervises other workers as assigned in completing fleet maintenance activities.
- Shuttles vehicles/equipment and from appropriate vendors for repairs and service as required.
- Oversees and approves requests for Colony vehicles via the Colony’s vehicle use applications.
- Maintains records and prepares reports as required.
- Performs basic repairs and service
- Performs vehicle/equipment inspections on a scheduled basis to determine condition of fleet.
- Performs various winter maintenance activities as needed including snow plow, clearing of walks and driveways, etc.
- Operate vehicles and equipment as required. May be required to obtain and maintain a CDL license.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduation from high school or G.E.D.
- One year of previous experience working with a computerized fleet management program and three years of experience in performing basic automotive repair and maintenance work or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Basic knowledge of methods used in automotive repair and maintenance work.
- Ability to use various hand and power tools related to fleet maintenance in a safe and efficient manner.
- Ability to communicate effectively with others, both verbally and in writing. Ability to maintain favorable public relations.
- Ability to assist in the training, supervision, and evaluation of assigned personnel.
- Possession of a valid Nevada State driver’s license as required.
- Skills in teamwork and communication including problem solving, interpersonal sensitivity, adaptability/flexibility and time management.
- Ability to perform assigned work independently with minimal supervision
- Must be self-motivated, energetic, responsible, and reliable in the performance of duties.
- Possession of or ability to secure and maintain a valid First Aid and CPR certification preferred.
- Preference to qualified Indians will be given.
