The Adjunctive Therapist is responsible for planning, organizing, directing and conducting therapy programs. Instructs or supervises patients in recreational activities as part of a therapeutic psychiatric treatment program.

- Plan, implement, and direct therapeutic recreational programs and activities for patients
- Develop treatment plan to meet needs of patient, based on needs assessment, patient interests and objectives of therapy
- Conduct therapy sessions to improve patients' mental and physical well-being
- Observe, analyze, and record patients' participation, reactions, and progress during treatment sessions, modifying treatment programs as needed.
- Document patient's progress or regression during their activities
- Counsel and encourage patients to develop leisure activities
- Instruct patients in activities and techniques, such as sports, dance, music, art or relaxation techniques, designed to meet their specific physical or psychological needs.
- Encourage patients with special needs and circumstances to acquire new skills and get involved in healthy leisure activities
- Serves as a member of a multidisciplinary treatment team that consults with other health care professionals in determining a total treatment plan and recommend changes based on individual observations and evaluations
- Keeps current on therapeutic resources available to best help the patients
- Upholds the Organization's ethics and customer service standards.

Education/Licensure
- Bachelors in Fitness, Art, or related field
- Current CTRS License is preferred
- All direct patient care staff will be trained in BLS (CPR), which must be renewed every 2 years
- All staff, both clinical and non-clinical, will be trained in CPI as part of their orientation. All direct patient care staff will be retrained every year
- One (1) year experience of inpatient adjunctive therapy
- Basic knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests
- Knowledge of assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders
- Knowledge of group behavior and dynamics, societal trends and influences, human migrations, ethnicity, cultures and their history and origins
- Ability to maintain professional boundaries
