Physical Therapy Assistant-Full Time

Job Summary:

The Physical Therapy Assistant will assist the physical therapist in carrying out an individualized program of physical therapy including treatment, planning, implementation, education, communication and discharge planning to maximize a patient's progress toward achieving functional goals.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Implements a plan of care established by therapists and incorporates participation by significant others as appropriate.
• Provides direct patient care, consults with therapists and other specialists, and actively participates in the discharge planning process.
• Possesses a working knowledge of patient’s insurance coverage, verification and completes required insurance documentation in a timely manner.
• Conducts therapy practice within defined standards of care for physical therapy for an assistant.
• Directs the assistance of support staff as allowed to achieve patients’ functional goals.
• Communicate effectively with other professionals and support staff to achieve positive outcomes and interdisciplinary team discharge planning.
• Practices facility and departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality improvement program, safety, environmental, and infection control standards, including cleaning of therapy equipment, workstation and shared work areas.
• Completes and documents interventions in a timely manner. To include:
  • Treatment Encounter Notes
  • Billing
• Enhances professional growth and development of self and others through participation in educational programs, in-service meetings, and workshops.
• Keeps up to date on professional literature, continuing education units, State licensure, and certifications as applicable.
• Acts as a resource to promote physical therapy in the community.
• Additional Duties as assigned .

Education and Experience:

• Must possess an Associate Degree in Physical Therapy Assistant Program from an accredited college or university.
• Must possess a current, unencumbered license to practice as a Physical Therapy Assistant in the State of Wisconsin.
• Experience in Skilled Nursing and Assisted Living is preferred.
