About Renlita

Renlita designs and manufactures innovative architectural opening systems for residential, commercial, industrial, and institutional applications. Our products combine thoughtful engineering, precision manufacturing, reliable performance, and distinctive design.

We are seeking a hands-on Product Engineer to join our team at our manufacturing facility in Bonham, Texas. This position will focus on developing new products, improving existing designs, building and evaluating prototypes, and conducting product testing. The ideal candidate enjoys solving practical engineering problems and working closely with manufacturing teams to turn concepts into reliable, production-ready products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop new door and architectural opening systems from concept through production.
  • Create and refine product designs, assemblies, components, and mechanisms.
  • Produce 3D models, engineering drawings, bills of materials, specifications, and related technical documentation.
  • Build, assemble, instrument, and evaluate prototypes.
  • Develop test plans and conduct functional, cycle, load, environmental, safety, and performance testing.
  • Document test methods, results, failures, conclusions, and recommended design changes.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and operational issues using structured root-cause analysis.
  • Improve existing products for performance, reliability, manufacturability, installation, serviceability, cost, and safety.
  • Work directly with production personnel to resolve manufacturing challenges and support new-product introduction.
  • Select and evaluate materials, components, hardware, motors, controls, and suppliers.
  • Coordinate third-party testing and product certification activities when required.
  • Maintain organized engineering records and ensure product documentation accurately reflects released designs.
  • Support prototype builds, pilot production, field evaluations, and post-launch product improvements.
  • Assist sales, installation, service, and manufacturing teams with technical product questions.
  • Promote a culture of quality, safety, experimentation, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, product design, manufacturing engineering, or a related discipline; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
  • Experience in product development, mechanical design, testing, manufacturing engineering, or a related role.
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD software and the creation of production-ready engineering drawings.
  • Understanding of mechanical systems, materials, tolerances, fasteners, fabrication methods, and assembly processes.
  • Ability to design and execute controlled, repeatable product tests.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical information clearly through drawings, reports, procedures, and discussions.
  • Willingness to work hands-on in an engineering, prototype, testing, and manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and move comfortably between design work and shop-floor problem-solving.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with doors, windows, architectural products, building products, automated equipment, or other large mechanical assemblies.
  • Experience designing fabricated steel or aluminum components, glass-supported assemblies, counterbalanced mechanisms, hinges, tracks, actuators, motors, sensors, or control systems.
  • Familiarity with design for manufacturing and assembly principles.
  • Experience with tolerance analysis, failure analysis, validation testing, and product certification.
  • Knowledge of applicable building codes, industry test standards, or third-party certification processes.
  • Experience working directly with fabrication processes such as welding, machining, sheet-metal work, finishing, and assembly.
  • Familiarity with engineering change control, bills of materials, and product lifecycle documentation.

What Success Looks Like

  • New designs move efficiently from concept to validated, production-ready products.
  • Testing is thorough, repeatable, well documented, and translated into meaningful product improvements.
  • Product issues are identified early and resolved through sound engineering.
  • Designs are safe, reliable, manufacturable, installable, and aligned with customer needs.
  • Engineering works collaboratively with manufacturing, installation, service, sales, and suppliers.
  • Product knowledge and technical documentation become stronger and more organized over time.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements
