Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Communications Specialist to join our team. As a Communications Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing our brand's visibility and reputation through various communication channels.
Responsibilities
- Draft press releases & talking points
- Other duties as may be assigned by the Executive Director & Deputy Director
- Monitor and post social media content
- Direct & Coordinate public and media relations
- Manage and implement communication projects
- Work across multiple departments and with various staff members to amplify the work of our advocates and assist them in communication best practices.
- Provide guidance and direction to management on potential and actual public relations concerns and emergencies.
- Develop communications strategy and materials to support the development activities of the development efforts and the Grants and Contracts department.
Skills
- Proficient in AP style guidelines for writing and editing.
- Strong public speaking abilities to effectively convey messages in various settings.
- Excellent research skills for gathering relevant information to support communication efforts.
- Background in journalism or related fields is preferred.
- Exceptional proofreading skills to ensure accuracy in all written materials.
- Experience in media relations, including building relationships with journalists and influencers.
- Knowledge of marketing principles to align communication strategies with business objectives.
- Familiarity with public relations tactics to enhance brand reputation.
- Proficient in social media management, including content creation and audience engagement strategies.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively convey ideas and information.
