Project Engineer – Renewable Energy | Arizona (Hybrid or On-Site)

In this position, you’ll be the go-to engineering resource, ensuring quality execution and alignment across project stakeholders. From early development through construction and closeout, you’ll collaborate across departments and external partners to bring utility-scale solar and storage projects to life.
What You’ll Do:
- Serve as the primary technical point of contact for the IPP project execution team.
- Partner with internal teams—including development, capital markets, and operations—to drive engineering strategy and execution.
- Coordinate with EPC and O&M contractors, Independent Engineers, vendors, and other stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
- Lead and document engineering processes and procedures for owner’s engineering across active projects.
- Review technical scopes in EPC, O&M, energy manager, and procurement RFPs, delivering cost-benefit insights to guide decision-making.
- Support contract negotiations for EPC, major equipment, O&M services, leases, and asset management.
- Champion value engineering with contractors to optimize system performance and cost.
- Ensure owner’s technical requirements are met—facilitating clear communication with internal and external teams.
- Review contractor deliverables, including designs, budgets, schedules, and performance estimates.
- Monitor quality assurance/quality control activities to uphold project integrity.
- Provide regular project reporting and presentations to internal and external stakeholders.
- Represent the Owner's technical interests both on-site and remotely.
- Support construction-phase closeout and ensure fulfillment of key technical and contractual obligations.
- Build and manage relationships with contractors, vendors, and third-party engineering firms.
- Contribute technical inputs to project finance models and support hiring of additional technical staff as the team grows.
- Delegate tasks and mentor junior engineers in owner’s engineering functions.
- Drive continuous improvement across engineering, project execution, and operational workflows.
What You’ll Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
- 3 years of experience in project engineering, development engineering, or owner’s engineering, with a strong emphasis on solar and energy storage systems.
- In-depth understanding of the renewable energy industry and project finance fundamentals.
- Proven ability to manage complex projects with minimal oversight and juggle multiple priorities under tight timelines.
- Strong initiative, ownership mindset, and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills—able to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
