## Overview
ReNewell Fleet Service is seeking a skilled heavy diesel technician to join our team. If you are looking to change from heavy diesel mechanics to fire apparatus technician, look no further. If you have heavy chassis experience (electrical, brakes, steering, suspension, hydraulics, and engine), or any combination of these skills, we will train you to work on fire apparatus. You will learn pump repair, foam system repair, aerial ladder repair and maintenance, and multiplex electrical systems.

The ideal candidate will have experience in electrical systems, and chassis work coupled with strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, as well as pride in your work. You must be open to learning new skills and learning how to diagnose and repair new systems.
This position offers the opportunity to work on Pierce fire apparatus, KME, Seagrave, Spartan, and other fire apparatus makes and models. Primary character traits include honesty, integrity, cooperation, and the desire to contribute to the success of our team and the fire service.
Maintenance and Repair:
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on fire apparatus and rescue equipment.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems on fire trucks and other emergency vehicles.
- Perform pre-delivery inspections and repairs on newly delivered fire apparatus.
- Conduct inspections and testing of fire apparatus to ensure compliance with NFPA standards and other state/federal regulatory requirements.
- Maintain and repair fire pumps and related components, aerial devices, hydraulic systems, foam systems, powertrain and chassis systems, generators, and other specialized equipment.
Diagnostic and Troubleshooting:
- Use computers, diagnostic tools and equipment to identify and resolve electrical and operational issues with fire apparatus.
- Troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical problems to determine necessary repairs.
Record Keeping:
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance, parts orders, customer-pay and warranty repairs performed on each vehicle.
- Document all parts and materials used, labor hours, and other relevant information to service orders (SOs), maintenance logs and databases as required.
Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to all company safety protocols and guidelines while performing maintenance and repairs.
- Ensure that all work is performed in accordance with NFPA standards, OSHA regulations, and company policies.
Training and Development:
- Stay current with new technologies, equipment, and industry best practices through continuous training and professional development.
- Shall work towards becoming a Master Pierce Technician.
- Mentor and provide guidance to apprentice technicians and other team members.
- Maintain current and future ASE and factory certifications as necessary.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Technical school or vocational training in automotive or diesel mechanics is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in the maintenance and repair of heavy-duty vehicles.
- Certifications: ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certifications in relevant areas (e.g., ASE T1 – T8 certifications) are preferred. EVT (Emergency Vehicle Technician) certification is highly desirable but not required. Factory certifications accepted.
- Skills:
- Proficient in diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and other related systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Good communication, cooperation and teamwork abilities.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and computer software.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and move heavy equipment and parts.
- Capable of performing physically demanding tasks, such as climbing, bending, and standing for extended periods.
Work Environment:
- The work is typically performed in a maintenance shop environment, with occasional fieldwork required.
- The position may involve exposure to hazardous materials and conditions, requiring adherence to all required safety protocols and PPE where applicable.

Pay: $36.00 - $45.00 per hour
