Renewed Mental Health is a growing outpatient group practice providing psychiatric and psychotherapy services to children, adolescents, and adults. Our providers and clinicians work collaboratively to deliver thoughtful, evidence-based care that helps individuals build strength, improve well-being, and find a sense of purpose.
As we continue to grow, we are expanding into Long Beach with a new office location, creating opportunities for providers and clinicians who want to be part of a collaborative and evolving team.
We are currently hiring up to two (2) Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners to join our outpatient team, providing mental health care to patients patients ages 4 and older, including children, adolescents, adults, and older adults.
This position follows a hybrid model, combining both in-person and telehealth services to support accessibility and continuity of care.
This role includes:
- 50% medication management
- 50% individual psychotherapy
Location: Long Beach, CA (may occasionally support other local offices)
Schedule and Ramp-Up Expectations (PST)
Clinic hours: Mon–Fri 9:00 AM–7:00 PM; Sat 9:00 AM–2:00 PM. Scheduling is flexible within clinic hours and can accommodate provider availability and preferred working blocks.
- Start: minimum 24 hours/week (about 3 days/week)
- As caseload grows: increase to minimum 36 hours/week
- Target: 32–40 hours/week by 6–9 months
Support, Oversight, and Supervision
- Medical oversight through a collaborating Physician/Psychiatrist practice agreement
- Regularly scheduled meetings with the Psychiatrist for clinical oversight and case consultation
- Weekly, biweekly, and PRN meetings with Clinical Psychiatric Supervisor and Director of Psychotherapy / Psychotherapist Supervisor
- Ongoing support from clinical and administrative leadership
Key Responsibilities (50% Medication Management, 50% Individual Psychotherapy)
- Provide outpatient psychiatric evaluations, diagnosis, and treatment planning (telehealth and in-person).
- Deliver ethical, evidence-based medication management and individual psychotherapy within scope of practice and clinic standards.
- Document thoroughly and on time in the EMR (medical necessity, treatment plans, progress notes, and risk/safety assessments).
- Coordinate care through consultation, referrals, and collaboration with the care team, supervising psychiatrist, and psychotherapy leadership.
- Educate patients and families, and participate in quality improvement to support a respectful, patient-centered clinic culture.
Education
- Master’s or Post-Master’s degree from an accredited PMHNP program required
- DNP preferred
Licensure, Certification, and Requirements
- Active, current, unrestricted California NP license and CA Furnishing license (no disciplinary actions)
- 103 NP or 104 NP, preferred
- ANCC PMHNP-BC certification
- Active California DEA registration
- Maintain personal professional liability (malpractice) insurance
- 1 year experience preferred, but new graduates will be considered and trained
- Must not have opted out of Medicare
- Must have, or be willing to form, a California Professional Nursing Corporation (required within 30 days if not already established)
- Must not be with Alma
- Spanish-speaking preferred
Credentialing
Prior credentialing with commercial insurance plans is preferred (often obtained through previous roles). We will credential you through our organization, and prior credentialing can accelerate the process and your start date, but it is not required.
Compensation and Pay Scale
- Pay scale (CA): up to $70 to $120 per hour, based on productivity and experience
- This posting includes a pay scale consistent with California pay transparency requirements for covered employers.
Contractor Classification and Compliance Notes
- This is a 1099 independent contractor role. Independent contractors are treated as self-employed for federal tax purposes, and businesses generally report qualifying payments on Form 1099-NEC.
- Engagement will be structured to comply with applicable California worker classification standards.
