Job Description
The Level III Quality Technician is the highest level within the Quality Technician job family and serves as a technical and procedural authority on the plant floor. This role plays a critical part in driving product excellence, leading root cause analyses, and mentoring other technicians. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in quality systems, precision measurement, and continuous improvement for windows and doors manufacturing. This role will perform Quality Control Activities in the Renewal by Andersen (RbA) Cottage Grove, MN facility. The applicant will work on the Quality Team using standards & tools to ensure quality products are being delivered to our customers, strengthening the Andersen Brand of an industry leader in product quality.
Primary Responsibilities
Quality Assurance & Control
Perform advanced inspections, product & workstation audits, and testing on raw materials, components, and finished products
Validate compliance with internal specifications and external standards
Interpret engineering drawings and specifications with a high degree of accuracy, both dimensional and visual/aesthetic.
Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement
Lead and support root cause investigations using tools such as 5 Whys, Fishbone, or DMAIC
Collaborate with engineering and production to drive corrective and preventive actions
Identify trends in defects and propose data-driven solutions
Assist in Statistical Process Control methods to enable in-control production.
Mentor and train Level I and II Technicians in inspection techniques, documentation, and quality standards
Serve as point-of-contact for escalation of quality issues from production
Documentation & Systems
Maintain precise and timely records in quality management systems (e.g., SAP, QAD, or proprietary systems)
Support internal and external audits by preparing inspection data and quality evidence
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with production, engineering, and supply chain to uphold plant quality goals
Participate in design reviews, process validations, and product release decision-making
Participate in a cross-functional Tier structure with Quality responsibility for metrics & actions.
Qualifications & Skills
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or associate degree preferred
5 years of quality experience in a manufacturing environment; windows/doors experience highly desirable
Expert-level proficiency in measurement tools (e.g., calipers, gauges, micrometers, XYZ tables)
Strong understanding of lean manufacturing and Six Sigma principles
Strong communication skills, including ability to summarize data and findings, present results.
Exceptional attention to detail and analytical thinking
Effective communication skills for diverse teams
Familiar with Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, and Quality Management Systems.
Physical Working Conditions
Regular exposure to production floor environment, including noise, temperature variation, and moving equipment
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift materials for extended periods
Lifting and destruction of units for investigative purposes.
Use of PPE required in designated area
Pay Range
$27.25 - $39.55
