You are a hands-on, safety-focused solar technician who takes pride in doing things the right way. You are comfortable working outdoors, troubleshooting complex electrical systems, and documenting your work thoroughly.

Your Mission
As a PV Solar Technician, your mission is to ensure solar PV systems operate safely, reliably, and at peak performance. You will support installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, documentation, and field operations while reinforcing Renewable Acres’ safety culture and quality standards.
You will provide clear communication, maintain accurate documentation, and contribute to a collaborative, high-performing field team.
Your Key Responsibilities
Field Operations & Troubleshooting
- Perform advanced troubleshooting of DC circuits and system components to diagnose and resolve performance issues efficiently.
- Interpret electrical drawings to understand site-specific configurations and determine voltage and current levels of DC circuits both from documentation and field observations.
- Troubleshoot and maintain single-axis tracking systems and related mechanical components.
- Support commissioning experience, maintenance, and corrective actions to ensure system uptime and performance targets are achieved.
- Assist with array-level inspections, including use of small unmanned aerial systems (sUAS) when applicable.
Safety & Compliance
- Reinforce and uphold Renewable Acres’ safety culture in all field activities.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate hazards associated with solar PV systems and electrical infrastructure.
- Ensure compliance with all site-specific safety requirements and PPE standards.
- Follow company procedures and industry best practices for electrical and mechanical work.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate and professional documentation of work performed using CMMS systems.
- Provide clear summaries of field activities, findings, and corrective actions to support project tracking and communication.
- Interpret and update work orders, service logs, and maintenance records with accuracy and completeness.
Equipment, Inventory & Logistics
- Monitor parts inventory levels and proactively communicate supply needs to management.
- Manage Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) processes to ensure timely equipment replacement and accurate tracking.
- Ensure tools and equipment are properly maintained, serviced, and replaced as needed to support operational efficiency.
Team Support & Development
- Provide clear guidance during daily onsite activities to support efficient operations.
- Assist in onboarding and training new crew members in safety procedures, technical practices, documentation standards, and software systems.
- Foster a collaborative and motivated work environment that supports team performance and accountability.
Qualifications
- 1 years of experience working in solar PV preferred.
- 1 years of Pre-Commissioning and Commissioning Experience preferred.
- Illinois Electrical License or Master Electrician preferred.
- Strong understanding of DC electrical systems and troubleshooting practices.
- Experience interpreting electrical drawings and site layouts.
- Working knowledge of single-axis tracking systems preferred.
- Experience using CMMS systems for documentation and maintenance tracking.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with sUAS inspections preferred but not required.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently in field environments.
Physical Work Requirements
- Travel up to 50–70% to solar sites across Illinois.
- Work performed primarily outdoors at solar project sites.
- Ability to sit, kneel, stoop, bend, stand, or walk for 8–10 hours per day.
- Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Must comply with all safety standards and PPE requirements at all times.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base Compensation: $25-32/hour, depending on experience, certifications, and technical skill level.
