About the Role
We are seeking a Sr. Associate, Government Affairs to assist government engagement efforts and ensure our policy, legal / compliance, and operational functions work seamlessly. You’ll play a critical role in keeping our programs compliant, efficient, and forward-looking and helping the company adapt quickly to regulatory change while maintaining operational excellence. You’ll track and evaluate legislative / regulatory developments and facilitate the translation of complex policy requirements into actionable operational processes. You’ll serve as the link between Government Affairs, Legal / Compliance, and Operations, ensuring smooth coordination of evolving regulatory and legislative priorities.
Key Responsibilities
Policy Tracking & Analysis (~40%)
Track and analyze state, local, and federal policy developments, with a focus on California, Florida, and Residential PACE.
Review and advise on draft laws, regulations, and other program requirements.
Serve as a subject matter expert in relevant policy areas and provide actionable insights on policy-related matters to internal teams.
Coordinate time-sensitive cross-functional understanding of the implications of proposed or newly established laws, regulations, and other program requirements, to ensure operational feasibility.
Assist Government Affairs team members in their engagement efforts by handling drafts / versions, coordinating redlines, creating and maintaining gap analysis spreadsheets, and producing appropriately tailored summaries or other collateral.
Project Management (~30%)
Oversee team deliverables tied to government agency interactions, industry initiatives, or other team projects, including tracking timelines/due dates.
Provide consistent implementation updates to Government Affairs team members, other internal teams, and senior management.
Risk Management (~20%)
Oversee escalations tied to third-party complaints and policy issues, ensuring resolution and cross-functional communication.
Support proactive compliance strategies that reduce risk exposure.
Implementation & Continuous Improvement (~10%)
Act as Government Affairs subject matter expert in the implementation of new laws, regulations and program changes.
Identify, define, and implement process and workflow improvements to increase efficiency and reduce risk.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in political science, public policy, business, or related field (advanced degree a plus) or equivalent experience.
5 years of experience in government affairs, policy operations, or regulatory compliance in a regulated or complex industry.
Proven success partnering with/managing multiple stakeholders.
Excellent analytical, communication, and project management skills, with the ability to translate complex policy into operational requirements.
Demonstrated experience coordinating across functions such as Product, Policy, Operations, Legal / Compliance and Project Management.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and collaboration tools.
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with project management or collaboration platforms beyond core productivity tools.
Experience in direct lobbying at the state and / or local level or other experience working with elected officials.
Familiarity with legislative tracking software.
Familiarity with legislative and regulatory processes in California and Florida at the state and / or local level.
Experience leveraging AI and automation to increase efficiency and optimize workflows.
Experience in regulated industries such as energy, financial services, or housing
Location: Remote (U.S. – limited to specific states)
While this role is remote, at this time we are only able to consider candidates who reside in the following states due to employment registration and tax requirements: Arizona, California, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Maryland, Massachusetts, New York, North Carolina, Oregon, Pennsylvania, and Texas.
Salary : $110,000 - $138,000
