About The Role
- RIC is seeking a dual role for a professional engineer with experience designing roadways as well as structures. In this position you will spend your time designing structures such as retaining walls, small bridges, box culverts and other concrete structures as well as assist our roadway design group. You must be capable of delivering projects that meet technical requirements in a timely manner and within a set budget. You will be expected to manage the design for multiple projects, train and mentor entry and mid-level staff, and have the ability to work closely with clients and staff, including attending meetings as well as representing the company at events as needed. You will be responsible for helping grow our client base through business development activities. - Manage projects from concept design through construction administration
- Prepare reports, designs, drawings
- Make calculations about pressures, loads and stresses
- Consider the strength of construction materials and select appropriately
- Review RFPs and assist in the preparation of proposals
- Responsible for maintaining high levels of coordination, communication, and team within the project team
- Plan overall project objectives, milestones, and time-and-cost budgets
- Anticipate, identify, and renegotiate scope and budget with clients as needed to meet profit objectives and client requirements
- Organize and distribute tasks to project team members
- Ensure quality and timely delivery of work products
- Mentor and train staff to meet needs within the company’s objectives
- Market RIC’s capabilities to attract new clients and enhance relationships with existing clients
- Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from an ABET accredited university
- Professional engineering licensure in a Midwestern state
- Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible management experience in civil engineering
- Minimum 5 years of structure engineering experience
- Minimum of 2 years of roadway design experience preferred
- Relationships with key staff at local municipalities
- Familiarity with governmental agencies in the state of Missouri and Kansas
- Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation Geopak preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite software
- Strong business development skills
- Ability to work effectively and professionally with internal team and project members as well as external client personnel
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Eagerness to mentor less experienced staff and continuously develop engineering design skills through education and development
- Ability to perform advanced designs and contract plan development
- Ability to perform occasional construction inspection on various projects
- Development of production work plans, specifications, and cost estimates
- Ability to establish and monitor contract budgets and scopes of work
