Site Safety Manager – Electrical Construction

Project Type: Large-Scale Pharmaceutical Construction
Position Type: Full-Time, Onsite

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Site Safety Manager to provide onsite safety leadership for an electrical contractor supporting a large-scale pharmaceutical construction project. This individual will work closely with project management, field supervision, craft personnel, the general contractor, and client safety representatives to ensure electrical construction activities are performed safely and in accordance with OSHA, project, and client requirements.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on safety professional who maintains a strong field presence, understands electrical construction hazards, and takes a proactive, coaching-focused approach to safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide daily safety oversight for electrical construction activities and craft personnel.
  • Conduct routine field inspections, safety observations, and compliance audits.
  • Review and support development of JSAs/JHAs, pre-task plans, permits, and other safety documentation.
  • Identify hazards and work with field supervision to implement corrective actions before work proceeds.
  • Provide oversight of high-risk activities including energized electrical work, LOTO, temporary power, work at heights, confined spaces, excavation, material handling, and lifting/rigging activities.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA requirements, NFPA 70E, company policies, and site-specific safety standards.
  • Participate in daily pre-task planning, toolbox talks, safety meetings, and coordination meetings.
  • Coach and mentor supervisors, foremen, and craft personnel on safe work practices and hazard recognition.
  • Support incident and near-miss investigations, root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and follow-up.
  • Track safety observations, incidents, corrective actions, and leading/lagging safety indicators.
  • Coordinate with project leadership, GC safety personnel, subcontractors, and client EHS representatives.
  • Verify required training, certifications, PPE, and documentation are current and maintained.
  • Exercise stop-work authority when an imminent hazard or serious safety concern is identified.
  • Promote a positive safety culture focused on accountability, communication, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of construction safety experience, preferably supporting electrical contractors on large industrial, pharmaceutical, life sciences, or advanced manufacturing projects.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA construction standards and electrical safety requirements.
  • Experience with NFPA 70E, LOTO, energized electrical work, arc-flash hazards, and electrical safe work practices.
  • OSHA 30 required; OSHA 510, CHST, CSP, or equivalent advanced safety credentials preferred.
  • Experience reviewing JSAs/JHAs, pre-task plans, permits, and high-risk work activities.
  • Strong incident investigation, root-cause analysis, and corrective-action experience.
  • Ability to effectively coach and communicate with craft professionals, foremen, project management, and client representatives.
  • Strong organizational, documentation, and computer skills.
  • Pharmaceutical or other highly regulated construction experience preferred.

Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will be comfortable spending the majority of their time in the field and will understand that effective safety leadership is built through visibility, relationships, coaching, and accountability. We are looking for someone who can partner with operations and the craft—not simply police safety—while maintaining high standards and ensuring work is performed safely and efficiently.
