Join our dynamic team as a Geotechnical Driller Assistant and be at the forefront of construction and geotechnical exploration! In this vital role, you will support drilling operations, assist with soil and material sampling, and contribute to quality control processes on-site.
Duties
- Assist lead drillers with setting up drilling equipment and preparing work sites according to project specifications.
- Support soil sampling, rock coring, and material collection following ASTM standards and AASHTO standards for accuracy and consistency.
- Carrying augers and other drill tooling in preparation for drilling. Regularly lifting at least 80 pounds is necessary
- Help with drilling rig repairs.
- Maintain detailed records of drilling activities, sample locations, and bag or jar sample preparation.
- Maintaining drilling logs and noting sample descriptions.
- Communicate effectively with team members and clients regarding project progress, site conditions, and testing results.
Qualifications
- Prior experience or familiarity with construction sites or outdoor work environments is highly desirable.
- CDL holder is preferred but not required
- Able to drive a Dodge 3500 while hauling water
- Laboratory experience or knowledge of construction materials testing procedures is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications for record keeping and reporting.
- Understanding of ASTM standards, AASHTO standards, American Concrete Institute (ACI) standards, and ASTM standards related to construction materials testing.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent analysis skills for interpreting test results and inspection data.
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting equipment or samples, standing for extended periods, and working outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Effective communication skills for client interaction and team collaboration.
- Construction experience including concrete forming, masonry work, or asphalt testing is advantageous but not required; training will be provided for motivated candidates.
