Long Term Sub Visual Art AssociateTeacher (Beginning of April through the end of June)
Summary
The visual art associate teacher works directly with the lead visual art teacher to plan units, prepare materials, co-teach lessons, lead small group arts enrichment, and hang artwork. The visual art associate teacher is an integral part of the art room at Renaissance Academy Charter School of the Arts. He/she/they is both a collaborator as well as an assistant. The visual art associate teacher will be provided additional training in pedagogy and instruction in order to be effective in the art room.

Director of Arts and Technology
Qualifications
- Valid NYS Teaching Certification in Visual Art Preferred
- College graduate, Associate Degree or higher
- Two years successful experience in an educational setting
- Visual arts background
Competencies
Responsibilities are representative but may not capture all tasks to be performed. The candidates will be expected to complete all duties which may be required in the performance of their position.
- Demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of visual art, including a working knowledge of most media, techniques, and art history.
- Works under the direction of the lead art teacher who has the direct responsibility for the design and implementation of visual art units for kindergarten through sixth grade students.
- Provides input, when asked by the lead art teacher, on unit and lesson ideas, keeping cultural relevance at the forefront of planning.
- Prepares materials daily for all art classes.
- Co-teaches parts of the daily art lessons with the lead art teacher.
- Assists in classroom management using Whole Brain Teaching techniques.
- Communicates and works effectively with a diverse student population, including students from low socioeconomic backgrounds, some of whom have experienced trauma.
- Attends professional development training led by the school.
- Leads small group visual art enrichment for students.
- Assists with whole school art shows and various performances.

Pay: $140.00 - $180.00 per day
