Duties
- Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, oral surgery, and pediatric dentistry.
- Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments, materials, and sterilized equipment following strict infection control and aseptic techniques.
- Take digital dental radiographs (X-ray), ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols are followed.
- Manage patient records using Open Dental while maintaining HIPAA compliance for patient confidentiality.
- Perform chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort.
- Collect vital signs and medical history information to support comprehensive patient assessments.
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, greeting patients as a dental receptionist, and managing medical documentation and records.
- Operate advanced dental technology including itero 3D scanners and CBCT
- Educate patients on oral health practices, dental terminology, and post-treatment care instructions.
- Ensure all clinical areas adhere to infection control standards and proper waste disposal procedures.
Skills
- Proficiency in dental assisting with experience in general dentistry, oral surgery, pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, and endodontics.
- Ability to perform X-ray procedures safely while adhering to radiation safety guidelines.
- Knowledge of infection control protocols and aseptic techniques to prevent cross-contamination.
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients of all ages, especially pediatrics.
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure the confidentiality of medical records and documentation.
