Field Service Engineer

Position Summary

The Field Service Engineer (FSE) is responsible for providing installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and preventative service for specialized laboratory equipment at customer sites throughout an assigned territory and, when needed, nationwide. This role serves as a key technical resource for customers, ensuring equipment reliability while delivering excellent service and support.

The FSE works closely with internal service coordinators and customers to schedule service activities, communicate status updates, and complete all work according to established service standards and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform emergency repairs, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance on laboratory equipment.
• Maintain appropriate parts inventory to support service and repair activities.
• Coordinate service schedules directly with customers and provide timely updates regarding arrival times, equipment status, and job completion.
• Complete and submit accurate service documentation electronically while onsite.
• Ensure preventative maintenance records and equipment service labels are current and accurate.
• Collaborate with internal teams to maintain complete and up-to-date service records.
• Monitor and replenish service inventory as needed.
• Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and ongoing professional development.
• Assist with preparing service and repair quotations through internal processes.
• Identify opportunities for equipment upgrades, service agreements, and related solutions.
• Generate and communicate customer leads based on observed operational needs.
• Follow up on pending preventative maintenance services and service agreement renewals.
• Document and communicate customer feedback and service-related concerns to management.
• Maintain an organized company vehicle, tools, and equipment to support efficient field operations.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

Travel Requirements

• Frequent regional travel to customer locations using a company-provided vehicle.
• Occasional overnight travel may be required based on customer service needs and project requirements.
