Designer

My client is seeking an experienced and creative Designer to join our team, focused on the 2–6X casual dress category. The ideal candidate will have a refined, elevated design aesthetic and a background working with department store brands—the type found in Macy’s, Bloomingdale’s, and Nordstrom.

This role is responsible for designing and developing fashionable, high-quality casual dresses that resonate with our customer and reflect the brand’s vision.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop 2–6X casual dress collections from concept through final sample approval.
• Create detailed tech packs, color palettes, fabric and trim direction.
• Partner with merchandising, sourcing, and production teams to ensure design intent and quality are maintained throughout development.
• Collaborate with overseas factories on sample making, fit, and construction details.
• Research trends, color direction, and market competition to inspire new designs.
• Attend fittings and participate in design reviews and seasonal line presentations.
• Uphold and evolve the brand’s aesthetic and design standards.

Qualifications

• 3–7 years of fashion design experience, preferably with brands sold in department stores such as Macy’s, Bloomingdale’s, or Nordstrom.
• Strong expertise in women’s 2–6X casual dress design or related apparel categories.
• Sample making and product development knowledge, especially working with overseas factories (preferred).
• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and CAD design tools.
• Excellent sense of color, proportion, and trend interpretation.
• Strong communication, organization, and time management skills.
• A refined, polished design sensibility aligned with elevated retail channels.
