VOIP Engineer – Full-Time

We are a fast-growing, modern Managed Service Provider delivering enterprise-level IT, cybersecurity, cloud, and communication solutions. We are expanding our team and seeking a highly skilled VOIP Engineer to help design, deploy, and support our next-generation communication systems.
Position Overview
The VOIP Engineer will be responsible for building, optimizing, and troubleshooting cloud and on-premise VoIP systems. This role requires deep knowledge of SIP, network infrastructure, call routing, SBCs, and modern unified communications platforms. You will work closely with clients, project managers, and the engineering team to deliver secure, reliable, high-quality voice solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, configure, and maintain VoIP systems (cloud PBX, SIP trunks, SBCs, QoS policies).
- Deploy and support platforms such as 3CX, Microsoft Teams Phone, Cisco, Allworx. Troubleshoot call quality, latency, jitter, and packet-loss issues.
- Implement and manage SIP routing, DID management, IVR menus, auto attendants, and voicemail systems.
- Configure network devices (VLANs, QoS, firewalls, NAT, SBCs) to support voice traffic.
- Monitor system performance and proactively resolve issues using logs, SIP traces, and diagnostic tools.
- Assist with client onboarding, migrations, porting, and cutovers.
- Document configurations, procedures, and best practices.
- Work with vendors and carriers regarding SIP trunks, number ports, and escalations.
- Provide Tier 2/3 support as part of a collaborative engineering team.
Required Skills & Experience
- 3 years of VoIP engineering or unified communications experience.
- Strong understanding of SIP protocol, RTP, codecs (G.711/G.729/Opus), and NAT traversal.
- Advanced Experience configuring 3CX, FreePBX, Cisco, Yealink, Poly, or Teams Phone.
- Solid networking knowledge (TCP/IP, VLANs, DHCP, DNS, QoS).
- Experience with firewalls such as SonicWall, Fortinet, Meraki.
- Ability to perform packet captures and interpret SIP messaging.
- Experience with number porting, carriers, and SIP trunk providers.
- Strong documentation and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3CX or Microsoft Teams Phone certification
- Experience with SBCs (AudioCodes, Ribbon, etc.)
- Familiarity with SD-WAN technologies
- Experience supporting multi-site deployments
- MSP experience is a plus
