Job Title: Graduation Support Specialist

Department: Student Services

Reports To: Graduation Support Team Lead

Compensation: $60,000

TRS Classification: Non-classified

 

Summary:

 

The Graduation Support Specialists partner with teachers and families to help students in grades 9-12 obtain the competencies needed to meet state graduation requirements and encourage students to explore academic and career goals in compliance with local, state, and federal policy. Support PK-8 course requests and grade level classification.

  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

  • Transcribe incoming academic records.
  • Perform grade level classification audits.
  • Assist teachers and students with solutions for credit recovery.
  • Develop graduation plans and schedule assigned students.
  • Facilitate concurrent, career tech, and next step scheduling options.
  • Execute course and curriculum schedule changes.
  • Help students with postsecondary planning (Higher Education, Workforce, Military).
  • Monitor academic progress towards graduation (Transcription, State Assessment, and Senior audits).
  • Coordinate with administrative and education departments as needed to ensure student and family needs are met.
  • Participate in cross-functional training activities.
  • Fulfill administrative staff development requirements.
  • Comply with all Federal, State, and local laws and board policies and procedures.
  • Perform other tasks and duties as assigned.
  • Additional projects or tasks as needed by management.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • No supervisory responsibilities.

 Education and/or Experience:            

  • Bachelor's Degree Preferred.
  • Previous experience in secondary or post-secondary education preferred.

  • Strong work ethic and self-starter, able to effectively manage multiple priorities and adapt to change within a high-volume and fast-paced environment. Comfort with adapting to changing business needs, conditions, and work responsibilities.
  • Must possess a professional and friendly attitude and be able to quickly develop a rapport with stakeholders over the phone.
  • Ability to learn and navigate new software quickly.
  • Strong attention to detail, dependability, and follow-through.
  • Resolve issues and conflicts.
  • Passionate commitment to the mission of school choice.
  • Ability to maintain professional confidentiality and comply with FERPA guidelines.

Language Skills:                  

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret internal communications, financial reports, and legal documents. 
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from families or members of the business community. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, families and coworkers, both verbally and in writing.  

Mathematical Skills:                 

  • Basic math skills required.

Reasoning Ability:                  

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. 

 Computer Skills:                   

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have computer proficiency in Windows, Microsoft Office and Google Tools with the ability to manage multiple computer screens.
  • Knowledge of web conferencing/meeting tools. Must have a high aptitude to learn new software as necessary for the business operations of the school. 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: 

  • Current driver's license and valid car insurance.

Other Qualifications:                  

  • Must be able to pass a state-mandated background check after a conditional offer of employment is made.
  • Must have favorable employment references.

This position is a statewide virtual position. The supervisor will determine the need for in-person office hours. Meetings in public places and at Epic offices are also required. The noise level is usually quiet to moderately loud (when students are present).
