Job Title: Career Technology Specialist

Department: College and Career Readiness 

Reports To: Career Pathway Director

Compensation Range: $60,000

TRS Classification: Classified

 

Summary:

The Career Technology Specialist is responsible for the support and facilitation of CareerTech enrollment for students in grades 9–12 while promoting awareness and access to programs. This role serves as a key liaison between students, families, educators, and Career Technology Centers, ensuring stakeholders are informed, engaged, and supported throughout the enrollment and participation process.

 

The specialist educates students, teachers, families, and staff on CareerTech pathways, program offerings, admission requirements, and the value of industry-recognized credentials. They guide students through the application process, assist with scheduling and program alignment, and coordinate campus tours and informational experiences to help students make informed decisions about their future.

 

The Career Technology Specialist supports overall program success by analyzing key performance indicators and trend data to offer informed recommendations that improve enrollment, participation, and completion outcomes. The role connects students to appropriate career pathways, increases access and success in CareerTech programs, and fosters strong partnerships between Epic, Career Technology centers, and the broader community. This position plays a critical role in ensuring students feel educated and equipped to pursue post secondary opportunities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Create efficiencies within a multi-faceted and dynamic work environment
  • Must possess excellent data analysis, writing, interpersonal, and communication

skills

  • Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships

with students, parents, staff, and outside entities including but not limited to the

  • Oklahoma State Department of Education and career technology centers
  • Understand CareerTech programs and admission requirements
  • Understand and utilize OCAS codes
  • Assist in providing students with high-quality career exploration and guidance
  • Assist in providing student support through program exploration, application

process and program completion

  • Analyze data and make recommendations as appropriate
  • Attend counselor meetings and other events at career technology centers
  • Promote CareerTech education through outreach and communication including, but

not limited to, one-on-one and group student meetings, CareerTech campus tours,

internal and external resources and communication campaigns

  • Collaborate with others
  • Plan and implement CareerTech professional development
  • Liaison between local education agency and CareerTech’s statewide for attendance,

progress reports, grades and behavior notices

  • Stay abreast on all Oklahoma State Department of Education guidance and attend

all applicable training as appropriate

  • Understand and support the greater College and Career Readiness Department and

support all initiatives

  • Provide career counseling, coaching, and advising as needed for all high school

students with career exploration planning via both individual and group support

  • Other duties as assigned

 

Supervisory Responsibilities: 

  • There are no supervisory responsibilities at this time.

 

Education and/or Experience              

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university required
  • Valid Oklahoma teaching certificate preferred
  • Experience working with a Workforce Development Program or comparable program
  • Proficiency with Zoom and Google Workspace preferred

  • Attention to detail; Ability to keep and maintain accurate and detailed reports and records
  • Must possess excellent conflict resolution and the ability to problem solve in a timely and effective manner

Language Skills                   

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.  Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.  

 

Mathematical Skills                   

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

 

Reasoning Ability                   

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

 

Computer Skills                   

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Google applications, Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.Must have a high aptitude to learn new software as necessary for the business operations of the school.

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations 

  • Current driver's license
  • Valid car insurance
  • (Recommended) Valid Oklahoma Teaching Certificate

 

Other Qualifications                  

  • Must be able to pass a state-mandated background check after a conditional offer of employment is made
  • Must have favorable employment references

The person in this position works remotely from their home. Meetings in public places and at Epic offices are also required. The noise level is usually quiet to moderately loud (when students are present.)
