Position Overview
Our team is looking for a structured and precise Payroll Specialist to take ownership of our day-to-day payroll operations. In this critical function, you will ensure total accuracy and compliance across all compensation workflows, from initial timecard tracking to final tax filings. This position handles the end-to-end processing of payroll, handles complex account reconciliations, manages regulatory compliance, and serves as a vital bridge between our HR and finance departments to resolve inquiries seamlessly.
Core Responsibilities
- Execute payroll cycles utilizing manual timecard data entry directly into QuickBooks Desktop.
- Verify and reconcile financial payroll files to ensure absolute consistency across corporate records.
- Oversee payroll-related benefits administration, accurately managing deductions for health plans, 401(k) contributions, voluntary employee perks, and court-ordered wage garnishments.
- Generate and maintain comprehensive monthly Worker’s Compensation insurance reports.
- Build and preserve detailed documentation for tax filings, corporate transactions, and federal/state compliance audits.
- Assist in migrating our current workflow from manual paper timecards over to a modernized electronic time-tracking platform.
Required Qualifications
- Direct experience in Construction Job Cost Accounting is strictly required.
- Solid grasp of foundational accounting principles, including double-entry bookkeeping, debits/credits, and project job costing.
- Practical proficiency with QuickBooks Enterprise Desktop (Contractor Edition).
- High-level to advanced capabilities using Microsoft Excel for data analysis and report generation.
- Sharp attention to detail with proven success troubleshooting ledger discrepancies and verifying high-volume data entry.
- Sound understanding of governmental tax laws, payroll regulations, and reporting mandates.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills and a strict commitment to maintaining confidential employee information.
