About The Role
The Payroll & Benefits Manager will oversee accurate, compliant, and timely multi-state payroll processing while managing firmwide benefits programs and driving continuous process improvement.
This role ensures full compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and plays a key role in delivering a seamless employee experience across payroll, benefits, and reporting functions.
HYBRID ROLE - 3 DAYS ONSITE
Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end multi-state payroll processing, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely execution.
- Oversee administration of firmwide benefits programs, including medical, dental, vision, FSA/HSA, life insurance, disability, 401(k), and leave programs.
- Serve as the primary liaison with payroll and benefits vendors.
- Lead annual open enrollment planning and employee communications.
- Conduct regular payroll and benefits audits to ensure data integrity and compliance.
- Monitor and implement updates related to federal, state, and local wage and tax laws.
- Support compensation-related reporting including W-2 processing, ACA filings, 401(k) compliance testing, and audit preparation.
- Provide responsive and professional employee support for payroll and benefits inquiries.
- Collaborate with HR and Finance leadership on system enhancements, reporting improvements, and firmwide initiatives.
- Drive process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
- 5 years of payroll and benefits experience (law firm or professional services experience strongly preferred).
- Strong knowledge of multi-state payroll regulations and experience managing employees across multiple jurisdictions.
- Proficiency with payroll/HRIS systems (ADP preferred) and advanced Excel skills.
- Excellent analytical skills with strong attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities with a collaborative mindset.
- Ability to manage confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
