Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Determine appropriate theoretical principals and approach to be taken using judgment in the independent evaluation, selection and adaptations of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria in order to design equipment and systems which will allow the company to meet program requirements.
  • Make decisions independently on engineering problems and methods and represent the organization in vendor/customer meetings to resolve important questions and to plan and coordinate work.
  • Plan, schedule, conduct or coordinate detailed phases of the engineering work in a total program or project.
  • Perform work which includes complex features such as resolution of conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of standard materials and difficult coordination requirements.
  • Conduct detailed feasibility studies for any proposed equipment or systems to include reviewing design and development plans, reviewing cost estimates and evaluating engineering proposals and specifications.
  • Coordinate and schedule activities concerned with technical development and resolve any engineering design and test problems.
  • Act as a liaison with customer and vendor representatives to ensure adherence of design specifications to the ultimate user's needs and requirements.
  • Constantly review and implement changes as needed to keep active projects on time.
  • Prioritize engineering projects in alignment with the needs and strategic goals of the organization.
  • Maintain close contact with associated team leaders, business unit managers and executive team.
  • Perform analyses and experiments to evaluate products, designs or processes. Utilizes mathematical techniques, specialized computer programs, etc.
  • Conduct computer simulations to design and test products.  Prepare engineering specifications and procedures.
  • Prepare technical documentation relating to proposals, reports, specifications, etc.
  • Research information on equipment and cost for project proposals.
  • Comply with company policies and legal guidelines.
  • Help maintain a safe and orderly environment of the facilities.
  • Performs any other duties assigned by management.

 

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel & PowerPoint)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong Manufacturing and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and multi-task in a constant changing environment.
  • Demonstrates a positive attitude, energy and professionalism. As well as trustworthy, respectful, and demonstrate sound work ethics.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively on multiple levels within the organization.
  • Available to work a flexible schedule that may include some nights and weekends.
  • Able to work extended hours as needed.
Qualifications:

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or relevant/related disciplines.
  • 3-5 years in a manufacturing/production/maintenance environment, manufacturing operations, industrial engineering, maintenance and/or production is required.
  • Drafting and design with Solidworks and AutoCAD
  • Lean Manufacturing and 6 Sigma training a plus
  • Insulated glass door manufacturing experience a plus
  • Commercial refrigeration experience a plus
  • Walk in cooler & refrigeration multideck case design a plus
  • R&D experience a plus

 

Physical Demands

  • Prolonged periods sitting, standing or walking.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
  • Occasionally lift, push, pull and/or move up to 50 pounds.

 

Work Environment:

  • Majority of work performed in a general office environment –At times the employee may be exposed to extreme hot or cold temperatures, heights, and loud machinery or equipment.  The employee may be exposed to hazardous chemicals.
