Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to provide exceptional care and assistance to individuals with developmental disabilities, aging needs, or health challenges. Duties
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment such as Hoyer lifts when necessary.
- Monitor residents’ health by taking vital signs, observing patient conditions, and reporting changes to healthcare professionals promptly.
- Administer medications following HIPAA guidelines and care plans, ensuring accuracy and safety at all times.
- Prepare nutritious meals in accordance with dietary restrictions and preferences, maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards.
- Support residents in engaging in social activities, community outings, and therapeutic programs to promote socialization and mental stimulation.
- Maintain detailed documentation of care provided, resident progress, and any incidents in compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Perform light housekeeping duties such as cleaning common areas and personal spaces to ensure a safe and hygienic environment.
- Use proper techniques for patient transfer and heavy lifting to prevent injury while prioritizing resident comfort and safety.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including nurses, social workers, and family members to develop and implement individualized care plans focused on enhancing quality of life.
Experience
Candidates should have prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments. Experience with dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, memory care, hospice care, or working with individuals with autism or disabilities is highly valued. Familiarity with patient monitoring techniques such as vital signs measurement is essential. Prior training or certification in CPR and first aid is required; additional certifications in HIPAA compliance or nursing assistance are advantageous. Candidates with a background in long-term care or social work will find this role aligns well with their expertise.
