Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to provide high-quality care and assistance to individuals with developmental disabilities, aging needs, or health challenges. In addition to staff we are also looking for weekend staff. Friday, Saturday, Sunday, or just Sat & Sunday. Both Days and nights 12 hour shifts.
Responsibilities
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support.
- Monitor residents' health status by observing vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and temperature; report any concerns promptly.
- Administer medications accurately in accordance with care plans and HIPAA regulations to ensure safety and compliance.
- Support residents with meal preparation and nutritional needs, adhering to dietary restrictions and preferences.
- Utilize specialized equipment such as Hoyer lifts or resident lifts to ensure safe transfer and mobility assistance.
- Maintain a clean and organized living environment by performing routine cleaning duties in accordance with health standards.
- Implement individualized care plans designed by healthcare professionals to meet each resident’s unique needs.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to foster social engagement and reduce feelings of isolation.
- Observe residents for signs of dementia, Alzheimer's disease, or other cognitive impairments; document changes in condition accurately.
- Participate in training related to first aid, CPR, assisted living protocols, hospice care, and other relevant certifications to enhance caregiving skills.
- Collaborate with team members, social workers, medical staff, and families to coordinate comprehensive care efforts.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and privacy laws such as HIPAA during daily operations.
Experience
Candidates should demonstrate prior experience working in group homes, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or home & community care environments. Experience with dementia care, memory care units, or working with individuals with autism or disabilities is highly valued. A background in patient observation, medication administration, patient monitoring, and long-term care is essential. Familiarity with care plans development and execution is preferred. Certifications such as first aid and CPR are required; additional training in hospice or home health services is advantageous. Candidates with experience using Hoyer lifts or managing heavy lifting tasks will find this role well-suited to their skills.
