Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) or experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our dynamic veterinary team at Remedy Veterinary Specialists. We are a neurology, pain and physical rehabilitation boutique practice in San Francisco's SOMA district. This role offers support our clinic’s daily operations by providing high-quality animal care in a collaborative clinical environment. Your expertise will help create a positive experience for pets, their owners, and team while fostering a collaborative and lively work environment.
Schedule: Mondays and Fridays, 10am-8:30pm

Duties
- Assist veterinarians with animal examinations, treatments, and procedures, ensuring smooth workflow during relief shifts
- Perform animal restraint and handling with confidence, utilizing knowledge of animal behavior and physiology to ensure safety for pets and staff
- Conduct laboratory tests such as blood draws, urinalysis, and other diagnostic procedures using veterinary laboratory equipment
- Prepare animals for surgery by administering anesthesia, monitoring vital signs, and maintaining aseptic techniques during procedures
- Operate radiology equipment to capture diagnostic images, including X-rays, while ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols
- Administer medications, IV fluids, and injections accurately following veterinary terminology and protocols
- Maintain detailed medical records, update patient charts, and document treatments in compliance with clinic standards
Requirements
- Valid certification as a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) (PREFERRED)
- May consider highly experienced veterinary assistant that can monitor anesthesia
- Experience in veterinary settings with skills in animal husbandry for recumbent patients.
- Strong knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and critical care procedures
- MUST be comfortable with basic anesthesia monitoring (HR, RR, EtCO2, BP, T)
- Ability to perform venipuncture (phlebotomy), IV insertion, vascular access management, and animal catheterization efficiently
- Familiarity with medical equipment operation including radiology machines and laboratory instruments
- Excellent animal restraint skills
- Knowledge of emergency medicine protocols and critical & intensive care practices to respond swiftly during urgent situations
- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and educate pet owners on pet care needs
